Swinging her leg over the barb wired fence, she spun and leapt to the ground landing in a crouch.
Things were getting harder and harder.
Looking back, she saw lightning fast movements darting in and out of her line of sight. "Shit!"
Day in, day out, they never give up. One went down, two replaced the one. They were always after her.
Maneuvering her way through the thick vegetation and tall trees with regrettably low limbs, she tried to keep the distance between them and her as good as she could get it.
My name is Vinnetta and I'm looking for my sister. She was taken three years ago, and no one has seen her sense. I've been told to give up, to stop wasting my life away. But they don't get it, they never did.
She is my life.
One of the men rushed her and grabbed her arm. Twisting away, she cocked her fist back and let it fly. He blocked it and smiled malevolently. He obviously thought he, being the superior, would win. She begged to differ.
Performing a roundhouse kick to his chin, his head whipped back and he stumbled backwards and collapsed into a tree. Another one came up behind her, lunging for her throat. Reaching over her shoulders and behind, she flipped him over to the front of her and jerked his head around. Hearing the satisfactory crack, she let his body drop.
Now I have a lead.
There was a clearing just ahead and, keeping an eye out for any sudden movements, she broke into it. The sky was an angry, mottled red and so was the glass ball of pulsating mist that she protruded from inside her grey cloak. She set it on the dieing grass. There was a sudden gust of winds from all around that threatened to blow her away like a rag doll, but she stayed put. Lightning struck the ground and left a rather large crater.
Stepping up to it, there was a pool of metallic, swirling blue that seemed to go on forever.
The Human Realm.
Vinnetta dove in. So intent was she on saving her sister and crossing the realms that she did not see the two, clothed in camouflaged cloaks, who jumped in after her.
