"It's funny, how on the outside we appear so hard and unfeeling, but on the inside, the truth is we are just like everybody else." -Anonymous-
Hi, guys! So, we all know what happened to Katniss' and Peeta's and their families after they won, right? But, what happened to... *drum-roll introduction (because she was so amazing)* Clove's family? Did they cry and get all sad, or did they act all District Two-ey and were like 'We don't care 'cause we're that awesome!' ? This is my version of how Clove's family reacted (mostly focuses on her sister). All rights to Suzanne Collins, no copyright intended.
Her fingers traced over the black ink where she had signed her name. Slowly, as if commanded to, she unfolded the other half of the paper to read the words her sister had written. Her lips moved soundlessly as her eyes moved over the thick ink.
Dear Mother, Father, Nefaria:
Do not mourn me. Do not miss
me. Do not cry when I am gone. Do
not stop living. But, do not worry,
the impossible will not happen. I will
win. I will come home to you. I
shall be surrounded by jewels. I will
be your victor.
Love,
Clove
But the impossible had happened. Their Clove was now dead, with her skull bashed in. No, Clove had not been their victor, surrounded by jewels. She had been a dead tribute, surrounded by the wood of her coffin.
And she had mourned her. She had missed her. She had defied her sister's last wishes.
Nefaria closed her eyes and let the tears fall again. She wished she had one of her sister's knives. Just one cut, one swift cut to end the pain. But that would be defying the last of Clove's requests. So instead, her fingers trace over the black ink where she had signed her name.
Thank you so much for reading it! This is going to be a one-shot so I'm not going to continue it. Do you like it? It's not really my best... how do you think I can improve it? Criticism welcomed!
child of hermes-god of stealth: Thank you so much. :)
