This came to me during English class…while the teacher was telling us a vocab word: "avaricious." This is what I did during journalism (which is after English). I own nothing. And this will probably be the only azure shipping fic I will ever do…
Azure Eyes
"You're nothing but a heartless, avaricious jerk, Kaiba! All you care about is your robots, Blue-Eyes, and money! What do you have at the end of the day when you go home? Huh? Where's your heart at, Kaiba?"
Kaiba stared at the girl before him. True, they were of the same, age, grade, and class, but compared to him, she was just a girl. A child. She may think that she knew of the evils of the world, but she knew nothing. She didn't know what it felt like to loose her parents. To wonder where her next meal would come from. To fear every second that you would be separated from the only family you knew.
And that was why he loved her. She was innocent. Untainted. She was but a lighter version of himself.
Azure eyes that were like the sea, ever churning but never frozen (like his). Her hair was lighter and smoother. Not held in place with stiff gel like his own. When her lithe body moved, it was with a simple purpose. Not always controlled by stiffness and the cruelty of life.
Now, she asked him what he had at the end of the day. How could he answer her? He knew what she wanted to hear. He knew he had nothing. Nothing besides his Blue-Eyes and Mokuba.
But what did he want? Where was his heart?
His heart was before him. In the girl with the churning azure eyes. The girl with a fierce passion for her friends. A passion he would never know. A passion he longed to know.
A passion he longed to know with her.
With Mazaki Anzu. The girl with the churning azure eyes.
Her jaw was set as she stared up at him with those churning azure eyes. Eyes that cut to his very soul. She opened her mouth to continue chewing him out. This time, he cut her off.
He grabbed her shoulders forcefully. His hard lips crashed against her softer ones. He barely moved his lips against her frozen ones.
He pulled away after a moment. His eyes hard. He knew what would happen next.
And it did.
Her hand shot out and slapped his cheek, his head snapping to the side. The sound of impact hanging in the air as his cheek burned like fire.
He slowly turned back to look at her. Her uncharacteristic glare cutting him like a knife. Her azure eyes churning.
"What was that?" She demanded.
He didn't answer. How could he?
She sneered. "Don't come on to me, Kaiba. I'm in love with Yami."
He gave one curt nod before turning away from her.
"I know," he muttered before walking away. He knew he would be tormented by her churning azure eyes that night as he sat alone in his huge mansion.
Because at the end of the day, all he had was those churning azure eyes.
Eyes that would never be his. Because her churning azure eyes were only for Yuugi.
And that was why he dueled. Not only to regain his number spot, but so that he could one day claim those churning azure eyes as his own.
Because he loved her. But she loved Yuugi.
And she always had. Even in Ancient Egypt.
And she always would. Even here and now.
Because those eyes were never meant for him.
End.
