David Rossi wasn't in a good mood. His coffee wasn't right for some reason, and there was a mountain of paperwork to do before he started a long weekend at his cabin. Unfortunately, his plans were delayed. The paperwork was taking forever and it seemed never-ending. He picked up another file and opened it up. He let another sigh escape his lips as his nostrils flared slightly. He looked out his window hoping to find something in the bullpen to brighten his mood. He felt himself smile when he saw the sight before him.

Her smile lit up the room, and her laugh tickled everyone she was around. Her touch was gentle and kind, her words poetic and knowing. Her eyes always held sincerity about them as she talked with a close friend. Her long blond hair curled slightly as it fell over her shoulders. Her bangs brushed the tips of her eyelashes. Dave couldn't help but thing that she was a fine female specimen. She was always so immaculate, so beautiful, and so perfect.

Dave stood up and moved close to the window. He watched the beauty as she conversed with Reid and Garcia. She pushed her son's stroller back and forth to keep the toddler happy as he swung a small stuffed dog back and forth on the small food tray. Dave frowned as the woman's Southern Beau wrapped an arm around her waist.

Dave always watched from afar. Jennifer Jareau was off limits, and he could never act on the thoughts he had since he met her all those years ago. He was an honorable man, and he wouldn't take another man's wife. That was something he could not do.

However, he still dreamed of a day where he and JJ could be together. A day where Henry could call him dad. He dreamt of dinner at a table where they talked about their day and ate home-cooked meals. He imagined holidays with the woman he loved hopelessly standing next to him as they greeted their friends.

JJ looked up and met Dave's longing gaze. She waved at Dave and his mood started to lift a bit. He leaned against the wall as he stared at a dream that would never come true. Instead he would watch from afar and hope that things always looked up for Jennifer Jareau. He would step in to help any time she needed it. It was something he would do for love. Even unrequited love.

Dave stood watching JJ until she bid her friends and fellow BAU member's adieu. As soon as she disappeared from the walls of the BAU, Dave was back at his desk working on his final file. He smiled as he thought about the way JJ looked today. His mood had somewhat improved and he could finish the day on a lighter note.

Author's Note: I'm sure this isn't what a lot of you were expecting. I'll try to do the pairing again with a much happier ending. I just went where my mind took me on a particular path and I thought I would roll with it. I hope you all look forward to more.
