Hey! This is meant to be a birthday present for my mum. It's only short, but that's because it used to be a drabble. I had to add a bit more to make it make more sense though. It's now 1.65 drabbles.
Disclaimer: I don't own Merlin. If I did, the knights wouldn't be such bastards to each other and Merlin.
Staircase confession
It was on a staircase that Arthur finally broke. He pressed Merlin up against the wall, forced him to tell. Arthur said that he already knew, but that he wanted to hear it from Merlin himself.
Later, Merlin thought that he'd confessed the wrong secret. Arthur didn't seem to care about the magic; it looked as if he'd wanted to hear something else falling from the warlock's lips. The prince walked away, but before he got too far, Merlin murmured something else.
As it turns out, staircases aren't the most private of places. It was only a matter of time until the servant who overheard their conversation gave in to loyalty to the king and reported Merlin. He hadn't known until the guards came barging into his bedroom during one of his practice sessions.
Arthur hadn't quite heard what Merlin whispered, but the thought of what it could've been still made him smile, even after the embers of the pyre had died out.
I don't mind if you review or not, but no-one's reviewed the last chapter of Forever Intertwined yet. Just saying...
