Cold. Sweet Din, he was cold. Standing quickly, shaking off the snow sticking to his clothing, Blue looked around, extremely confused. The last thing he remembered was falling off that waterfall, and then... he ended up on the side of a mountain? It made absolutely no sense.
"Hey, Vio, how d'you suppose we got up here?" he asked, expecting his know-it-all counterpart to have the answer in a moment. There was no reply.
"Vio, come on, don't be a dick. Green, help me out here." No reply from either. Blue turned around, but the other three weren't there. He was completely alone.
"Huh... I guess that means..." A hundred possibilities raced through his mind, that they had been killed, that they were still buried under the snow, that they had left him behind... Until one idea popped up that, to him, suddenly seemed like the obvious answer, despite the flaws in his theory that any one of the others could have pointed out.
"YESSSSSS!" He pumped his fist into the air, grinning. "I'm back to one Link again!"
"Seriously? That's the explanation you settle on? Ha! More like a fools dream."
Whipping around and unsheathing his sword, Blue glared at Shadow Link, taking on a defensive stance.
"You! Now that I'm whole again, I'll kick your ass!" Blue shouted. Shadow snickered mockingly.
"Pfft. Don't you remember how you couldn't do a thing to me last time, Blue? Besides, I'm not here to be hostile." Shadow walked forward, nudging Blue's sword aside to stand in front of him. "I'm here to offer you a deal."
"You can take your deal and shove it up your-"
"Whoa! Feisty today, are we? Fine. Tell you what," Shadow drawled, unsheathing his own sword, "If you win, I'll take you back to your friends. When I win, you have to sit the fuck down and listen to what I have to say. Kapeesh?"
Blue hesitated, something telling him this was a very bad idea, but then he saw himself, victorious over Shadow Link, bragging to the other Links as they acknowledged him as the true leader. He took a deep breath. "Kapeesh."
In an instant, Shadow struck, Blue barely having time to raise his shield before his attacker had vanished from sight. Whipping around, he once again managed to defend himself in the nick of time, pushing away his shade's blade with his own. Moving fast, Shadow used the opportunity to deliver a blow to Blue's abdomen, causing him to double over. Shadow leapt high in the air, sword raised, and Blue jumped to the side, avoiding his downward strike.
And then Shadow Link vanished from Blue's vision again. Catching his breath, Blue was on edge. He jolted back as he felt cold metal press against his throat, and he bumped into Shadow, who had snuck up from behind, quiet as... well, a shadow. Shadow wrapped his free arm around Blue, keeping him in place as he put his head on Blue's shoulder, whispering into his ear.
"Now then... my deal?"
Blue just opened and closed his mouth, at a loss for words.
