"Alright Matthias, you're free to go on account of your girlfriend paying bail...again." Arthur, the jailor said sarcastically.
"Hehe, yeah, she's pretty cool like that." Matthias said as he was given back his things. He met up with you, and you both walked to your car.
On the car drive, you said, "Matthias...I love you, I really do, but...you need to control your drinking problem. How can we ever have a life together if you're going to be spending 99 % of it behind bars for misdemeanors like this?"
Matthias sighed, "I'll stop drinking I promise!"
You shook your head, "That's not what I'm trying to get at; I'm fine with you having a drink or two with your friends when you're being social. But until you can only have those occasional drinks...I think we should stop seeing each other. I have better things to spend money on than bail."
Matthias nodded sadly in understanding. She dropped him off at his house, and said, "Call me when you're sober." With those last words lingering heavily in the air, she left.
For two long years, you were able to get your career on the move and you had a nice life to start out with. But the one thing you didn't have was the man you loved.
Then there was a knock at your door.
You opened it, and there was a bouquet of your favorite flowers and a nicely groomed Matthias with a gentle smile, "Say, you wanna go out for dinner sometime?" You blushed but then you looked away contemplating it.
"I only have a drink every third Friday when I have Poker Night with the boys, and I've been doing this for the last two years. What do you say _, will you take me back?"
You smiled and threw your arms around him, and he hugged you back, "Of course I'll take you back you overgrown idiot, I love you."
"I love you too babe."
Then you took his arm, and you both went out together.
