As Santana turns to leave, Brittany feels time stop. As if someone reached up and held the ticker back. She couldn't hear anything but her own breathing, and her own heart ticking in her chest. She knew she wasn't smart, she knew she didn't know things most people did, but she knew Santana. She knew Santana fucking Lopez better than anyone in the world. She knew the slut in Santana, the bitch, and devil, and most of all, she knew the angel. She knew that even Santana got scared, and that used to be the most comforting thing in the world to her. Now it just made her mad. Really really mad. And Brittany never got mad. Maybe the rage was just taking over her hurt, trying to tape up her broken heart quickly and messily, but it didn't matter right now. All that mattered was when time began again, Brittany heard the door close.

She pushed up off her seat and started running as fast as she possibly could and she could almost predict the exact second she saw Santana's head look back at her.

"Wait!" She called, before she bashed into the other girl, who had already stopped. "B-Brittany wh-" The blonde grabbed Santana's hand and pulled her lightly to look into blue eyes. She caught her breath as her hand shook around tan skin.

"I know that you're scared. You've always been really scared, like I used to be when the lights went out at camp because I thought the gnomes would break into out tent." A very small smile escaped Santana's lips at the memory. "And I know you've never had a thing with a girl before. Like officially, with the stamp of cupid and everything, and I know you think you're going to ruin this because that's always what you think. You don't let anyone see it but you worry that you're wrong."

Brittany was well past her 10 word usual speeches, but she couldn't stop the words that had been building up since she saw Santana. She was scared, and sad, and angry and she needed Santana to just listen to her for once.

"You think that since you like ladies, you're going to jump around more than Lord Tubbinton during a cat party. But you're not. Because you love me." She swallowed, finding her courage faltering. Because she knew Santana loved her. And the thought of being away from her even more, without even the hope of a goodnight Skype kiss made her feel like she'd been slapped. "And I love you. I always have. And just because you get lady love tingles doesn't mean that you're going to be anything less than mine." She finished breathlessly. Blonde eyebrows furrowed cutely as Santana stared at her in astonishment. Santana was the only one who saw Brittany as wise, and smart, but even she didn't know the extent of the blue-eyed girl's potential. And maybe, breaking that innocence was what scared her the most, more than not trusting herself to be good enough. Santana shook her head softly, before laughing very softly and falling against her girlfriend. "I love you Brit." She whispered, wiping her tears as she leaned more into the taller girl, who hugged her tightly. "I love you Sanny."
