"Emily. Stay focused." The voice was garbled from the noise of the Animus. "She's resisting."
Emily was losing control. Her mind couldn't process what she saw, images and voices flashed faster than she could blink. A bloodied sword, a white sail, an armored cross, the visions spun. She saw a figure coming directly at her. "A gift, from my family to yours." The runner was getting closer. "Where? Where have you hidden it!" The runner was almost on her. "You've failed again, Haluk." Her vison failed, she fell to the floor. Emily screamed.
"Ms. Stillman! What is this?"
The Animus shut down, releasing the shaking woman. She curled into a ball on the surface of the Animus, clutching her head.
"She can't process this memory Warren. Her mind is not synchronizing."
"Then what do you propose?"
"We try again, from a more stable memory."
Emily heard steps approaching. She opened her eyes, staring right into the face of Dr. Vidic.
"Hello Ms. Edney, welcome to Abstergo."
"Thank you for the invitation, Templar." Emily spat.
"Ms. Stillman informs me that we'll be spending some time together. Best if we be civil."
"Are kidnappings a regular, civil manner of bringing guests to Abstergo?"
"You Assassins never seem to respond to any other invitations. We do what we have to."
"Then I'll have to return the favor."
Emily lashed out, hitting the good doctor in the solar plexus with a quick jab. She pivoted, standing behind him and locking her arms around his neck. The lights dimmed into a dull red and a klaxon rang out. A guard rounded the corner, wielding a baton. Emily looked up for a moment, letting her hold slip. Dr. Vidic moved under her, lifting her completely onto his back and flipping her back on to the Animus. Her vision blacked out for a moment and her head pounded. Blurred shapes swam at the end of her vision, she heard metal rattle against the machine, felt the cold bite of tight shackles. Her sight finally returned, she struggled against her restraints. To no avail, she was chained to the Animus.
Dr. Vidic stood over her, adjusting his tie. "No, no Ms. Edney, I'm afraid you've lost that privilege. You'll be staying here until we have what we want. Ms. Stillman, start the Animus. The sooner we find the Archive, the sooner we can send Subject 15 on her way."
