Ever since Naruto was a young child he had loved the water, the way it comforted him and held him when no one else would. The way it could be hot or cold, a raging torrent or a gentle flow, If was safe to say he loved the life giving element. He remembered clearly the first time he ever saw the ocean...

Flashback Begin
Naruto walked down the path towards Nami no Kuni. He was on a mission to escort a bridge builder to his home country so he could build a bridge between Nami and Hi no Kuni. Naruto and team seven were on guard, earlier the Genin team had run into the demon brothers, Chūnin rank Nuke-Nin of Kiri. The team had dealt with them accordingly, but of course the Sensei of his team had not congratulated anyone but Sasuke.
'Humph... Fucking Uchiha, I saved his ass from that stray
shuriken and Kakashi only praises him after the battle, fucking typical!' Thought an angry Naruto as he walked down the path towards Nami no Kuni.

All thoughts were discontinued as he stepped around a bend in the path and throughout the thick mist he caught sight of a large body of blue water. Naruto stopped moving for a moment at the majesty of the great eastern ocean. He was speechless until his gazing came to an abrupt halt at the screeching of his banshee like teammate.

"Naruto what are you doing! Hurry up you dobe!" Screamed Sakura in a voice that was guaranteed to alert every shinobi in a 10 kilometer radius.

Naruto inwardly sighed and put back on his emotional mask that bad slipped at the sight of the grandeur of the ocean. He ran and caught up with his teammates...

Flashback End

Naruto walked down a path that he hadn't walked down In several years. He came around the bend and gazed upon the majestic sea once again. He looked out acres the water and spotted the island of Nami no Kuni and the great bridge that spanned across the water towards the small island nation. Naruto looked down at his blood covered hands and his torn and burnt clothes remembering why he was going to wave country in the first place.

Danzo had finally made his move when Tsunade went to a meeting with the Daimyo of Fire. Almost as soon as she left the civilian council and the elders and congregated in secret planning on how to use this brief opportunity to get fit of the "Demon Boy" once and for all. They had come to a conclusion to execute him for being too much of a danger to the leaf.

'Honestly WTF, I'm no threat to the leaf.' Naruto thought to himself.

They had called him into the council chambers and after delivering his sentence Danzo had called for his Root ANBU to terminate his existence. Naruto was no slouch even before his 3 year trip with Jiraiya, but even with his training he knew he had to leave fast or he would end up a corpse. Naruto spotted the open window behind the U-Shaped table the council sat behind.

Flashback Begin

Naruto sensed the incoming slash. He brought up a kunai to counter the incoming slash from the ROOT katana. He ducked underneath the roundhouse kick that came from the ANBU's partner and leapt out the window falling twenty stories and landing on top of a neighboring roof. He dodged a few small fireballs that set the building he was standing on top of on fire and through a few kunai to return the favor. While he was heading off towards the east gate be charged up a rasengan and slammed it into a Root masked shinobi who's subsequent wound covered him in blood. The fight only got worse from there...

Flashback End

Naruto walked across the bridge noticing with a faint smile the name carved into the pillars

'The Great Naruto Bridge huh. Well I didn't expect them to name it after me.'

Naruto walked up to the cliff side overlooking the town that his team had saved as children. He stood over the graves of Haku and Zabuza and gazed down at them with sad eyes.

"I'd never thought I'd identify with you as much as I do right now. The shot hit the fan over in Konaha and I can't go back. Who knows what kind of shot there spouting to the populace about my 'betrayal'? Tsunade is going to get back and be fed a crock of bull about how I am a traitor. 'Sigh' Haku I'm afraid that following your Nindo isn't going to work for me for much longer. No one who was precious to me is going to believe me after the trail of destruction I left behind me." Naruto told the silent graves. He looked up at the sword stabbed in the soft soil near Zabuza's headstone.

"Zabuza, I wonder if you would mind if I took your sword? I'm going to need it soon to protect myself from Hunter-Nin and it would be an honor to continue your legacy."

Naruto could swear he felt a presence whisper into his ear, 'Take it...' before he felt an overwhelming need to reach out and grab the sword. As soon as he grabbed it an overwhelming blackness came over him and he passed out.

Inari was waking home when he looked up at the cliffs where the Heroes of Wave were buried. He spotted the form of a man falling from the cliffs and into the ocean below. Inari ran full tilt towards the ocean below the cliffs only to find the common sight of the waves crashing against the cliff side.

'Must have been seeing things...' thought Inari to himself.
