You could call this a sequel to Remembrance but I'm more inclined to call it a companion piece.

"Do you think people will remember?"

Shad looked up from his book, frowning at being interrupted. The library around them was currently filled with the afternoon light, the windows being turned towards the east. The scholar preferred to be in the library around this time every day so he could take advantage of the light. This room had turned into a sanctuary of sorts for him, against many things.

At least, until Rusl had invaded.

"Remember what?"

The older man smiled, amused with Shad's state of being miffed. "Link, and his great deeds these past months. It's certainly the stuff of legend, after all. It isn't every day a young man defeats the forces of evil."

Shad lowered his head, staring at the pages. The words didn't make sense anymore; the mere mention of the Hero had sent his mind spinning. "Yes," he said, voice squeaking just a little.

"And will you be the one to write it down?"

Those words made him look up again, baffled. "What?"

"Well, that would be the best way, wouldn't it? To make sure it is never forgotten? I think Princess Zelda would not have any objections to giving you an account of her actions. And Link wouldn't mind."

Shad had the feeling of shrinking in his chair. What was Rusl trying to do? The young man silently cursed the effects of ale and brandy that had, no doubt, led his companion to this.

Never again, he promised himself.

But Rusl was still giving him that damn smile. The "I-Know-What's-Best-For-You" smile.

The feeling of shrinking increased, as he thought, once again, of Link, Zelda, and all the insane events that had taken place that year. Sweet mother of Din, why would either of them want to talk to him about what happened? They only wanted to forget all about it, surely.

Link especially. Link would especially want to forget about it, because Link had only been living his simple life before it was all ripped away --

And why the hell would he want to talk about it to you?

Shad opened his mouth to say, thanks but no thanks, I'm not the man for the job, you ought to do it, you know Link better and the Princess will want to speak to a man that can fight, not a young fop --

He knew it was selfish of him. He was really the only one with enough time on his hands to accomplish this, the only one who had the patience. But he had raised himself; he was allowed to be selfish.

So he opened his mouth, prepared to say "no."
