Artemis winced slightly as she felt the cold, cold ice being pressed against her forming bruise. It was at least the size of a baseball, and no thanks to Wally.
They were sparring, and even though he didn't completely hate her, they still were snarky with each other. Wally using his super speed went a tripped her, but accidentally kicking her shin in the process.
And now here they were, Artemis sitting on the couch, and Wally pressing a bag of ice against her baseball-sized bruise. When he saw her wince, he placed his hand on her knee, and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
She looked down to him, and he rubbed his neck sheepishly. "Sorry, Artemis. I- I didn't mean to hurt you. Honestly!"
Artemis smiled. "Wally... It's okay. It wasn't on purpose, because if it was, you'd need a lot of medical help."
He laughed and she laughed. And without the rest of the team around them, they felt at peace with each other. It was obvious to Artemis that Wally really like Megan, but, she knew Megan liked Superboy. And Artemis worked really hard to make sure no one figured out she liked Wally...
Wally removed the bag so her leg didn't get too cold, and he only felt slightly awkward now.
Artemis noticed, and fake shivered.
It got his attention. "Are you cold? I could go and get you a blanket, or I could go and make something warm. Or-"
"Wally."
He was immediately sober.
"I can think of a better way to warm me up."
Wally quirked an eyebrow, "Oh yeah? How so?"
She could feel her face flush. "Um... You could... Hug me?" She said hopefully.
Wally's face became red, too, and he didn't say anything as he sat on the couch next to her, and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. Artemis wrapped her arms around him, too, resting her head on his shoulder.
They stayed there for a while, and Wally knew she must be warm by now, but he couldn't pull himself away. So they stayed in that position, not minding if anyone saw.
