Chapter 1 New Assignment
A/N This is my first TMNT fic so it is a little bit out of my element. It is also why I couldn't sleep last night. There will be 5 chapters. The others will be longer than the first.
I don't own the Ninja Turtles but I wouldn't mind having Donnie around!
"Enough," master Splinter said ending the sparing matches. "You have done well my sons and all of you are showing improvement…"
"Except I was already perfect" Raphael interrupted. Splinter silently stepped behind his cocky student and pinched him hard in the neck. "… perfectly ready to learn more master Splinter" he added before falling to his knees.
"There is always room for improvement, Raphael. While you are great as individual fighters and after I made Leonardo your leader you have done better as a team. However, you still lack a necessary cohesiveness necessary in actually defeating the Shredder. You have seen what he can do. You will not fight him again until you are ready until you can truly fight as one. You all focus on your own strengths which is important but you must know each other's strengths and know when you need to yield to one of your brothers.
"Master, I like to think I do that." Leonardo said.
"Yes, you are better at it than the others. You have to be, but training is never a bad thing. You will help me. When you teach you learn even more. "
Raphael was still somewhat confused. "What else is there? We are ninja we fight! The Strongest opponent wins."
"Not necessarily" Donatello reminded them. "Sometimes it is about watching observing your opponent and out smarting him…" He shook his head as he noticed Michelangelo had left the room and was doing something in the kitchen. "…Or by being predictably unpredictable!"
"Do you ever think about anything other than your stomach Mikey? We are in the middle of a training session, remember!"
"Hey, The Pizza has a voice. It ya know calls me. Gotta answer! There's enough for everyone. Besides, you heard it to it isn't just my stomach."
"Indeed" Splinter answered. "You will study your opponent. You will study yourselves. This will go better than the last attempt at stepping out of your comfort zones."
They grunted remembering the training exercise the last time they were complacent and had to change weapons. They now had to learn each other's strengths. Not master them but be aware. One thing was absolutely certain. This was going to get very interesting. They needed a few more moments of the familiar. Donnie left and went to his lab, Mikey finished the pizza alone and headed for the video games. Raf needed to hit something.
"You're really serious aren't you Sensei?" Leonardo asked him.
"Yes. Now get some rest."
