What One Phrase Can Do
Tossing and turning in the middle of the night,
Can't decide what's wrong and what's right.
Turns on the light and gets out of bed,
Drinks some tea to clear her head.
She lives alone on the edge of the city,
Her only companion is a little black kitty.
Wishes that she could hear his voice whispering in her ear,
But then she turns on the light and sees her face in the mirror.
Remembers how they used to taunt her without stop,
About how her ugly face should just go "pop!"
If only she could see,
How much she means to me.
And if anything were to happen to her,
My life would be a blur.
Her head fills of a horrible thought,
What was that thing she just bought?
Oh yes! A new shotgun for dad!
She picked it up with her feelings very sad,
And pointed it to her heart but then the phone did start.
She laid the gun down,
And answered the phone with a frown.
"I love you" the voice on the end had said.
She smiled and drifted back to bed.
