Shizune sat at her small, organized desk outside of the Hokage's office. Her ebony eyes scanned each page of paperwork that was actually meant for the Hokage. Since Tsunade hated paperwork, the only way it would ever get read, completed and signed was if she, herself did it. She paused, and glanced over to her friend, and colleague sitting at the desk beside hers. Sakura met her eyes and they both came to a mutual agreement.
Lunch time.
Both Sakura and Shizune sat with an empty bowl in front of them. Consequently, Naruto and Iruka sat beside them, in the same situation.
Then, Naruto and Sakura jumped out of their seats, dishing out the excuse that they were supposed to meet their sensei that afternoon.
Shizune eyed Sakura suspiciously as she strode quickly away with Naruto, who's arm was wrapped securely around her waist. Shizune knew that Kakashi was out of town at that moment, on a mission.
Sakura turned back and winked mischievously at her, happy to leave her friend in the predicament that she was in. Or with.
"Hm..?" Iruka laughed, "I guess they're back together. That's great. I knew they loved each other too much to break up over that. You should have seen Naruto, he was heartbroken."
That was the last time she ever told Sakura anything about her personal life...
The day before...
"Shizune, who was your first love...?" Sakura asked softly, twisting a strand of her pastel pink tresses around a single finger. It was very much like her to ask these kinds of questions, for she'd just gotten out of a rather serious relationship for some frivolous reason, and found solace in talking about other's love lives.
"Well..." She began, her cheeks tinged a rosette color from all the sake she'd been drinking that night. Perhaps it was because of all the alcohol in her system that she told her story. "You see, my first boyfriend doesn't count as my first love. It was my ... well, it ended in disaster so there's no use bringing it up." She said, taking another swig of her drink to dull the pain that the memories produced.
"Aww ... come on..." Sakura pressed.
"Fine. I think I was sixteen or seventeen. Anyway, we were together for the longest time, and I have to admit that it's my own fault that it ended, I left with Tsunade. When we returned, that would be when she became Hokage, I saw him again as soon as I reached the village. I'm sorry to say that I regret not saying anything to him, and the result was that we are now only just friends."
"I'm so sorry... You still... love him?"
Shizune nodded morosely.
"Who?" Sakura asked as delicately as possible. She found it heart wrenching to see her friend in this state. Shizune was always the optimist.
"I'm not drunk enough to tell you that" She said, taking another swig of her sake.
Unfortunately for her. She had spilled her guts before the night was over.
Ok, so maybe no one will like this pairing, but I'm all for crack pairings. At least Sadie... hopefully will review
