Ginny sat down in a chair. She was holding her grandson, Teddy and Victoire's son, in her arms, watching James and his new bride, April, dance together.
She and Harry had been rather nervous about how to plan a wedding when no one on the bride's side had ever encountered anything magical, without even bringing the Statute of Secrecy into the mix. In the end, it had all come together nicely, and she could relax somewhat now.
Harry was chatting to April's parents. Once they'd had time to cope with the knowledge, they'd managed to take the revelation that magic was real in stride. It could've been far worse, Ginny reflected.
Arthur took the empty seat next to her. "Feels strange, doesn't it?" he asked.
Ginny nodded. "He's been living on his own for six years, but now, it's practically permanent."
Arthur smiled. "Oh, I know how that feels."
She watched James and April for a moment longer. "Is that how you felt at Bill and Fleur's wedding?"
"The feeling was short-lived, if you remember."
She stroked her grandson's hair. "How could I forget?"
"Indeed. Did James and April try to invite Lily?"
Ginny closed her eyes. "Yeah, they did. They know her address. So do a few of her cousins. Apparently she requested that none of them tell us."
Arthur put an arm around his youngest. It was probably the most information she had revealed about her daughter since Lily had done a bunk straight after leaving Hogwarts. "History repeats itself, eh?"
Ginny shifted. "Yeah," she responded quietly. She bit down on her lip before speaking again. "What was it like for you and Mum when Percy left?"
Arthur sighed heavily. "You have to remember, so many things were different back then. We expected it, although that wasn't much comfort."
"I just wish Lily had accepted her family more. That there was something we could've done to help her fit in."
Arthur tightened his grip around Ginny's shoulders. "Maybe one day she will," he whispered, kissing Ginny's cheek as he had done when she was a little girl. "I know how much it hurts. But for now, you've got to make the best of what you've got."
Victoire walked up to them, upon seeing the gap in Ginny and Arthur's conversation. She smiled at them, opening her mouth and drawing breath.
Ginny smiled back knowingly. "Don't worry, I'll give him back."
Arthur held out his hand to his youngest daughter. "Care to dance with your old man?"
Ginny giggled. "Of course, Dad."
The two walked onto the dance floor, swaying to the music, Arthur moving well for a man of his age.
"Remember, Gin, you've still got your two sons. Don't make them feel as if you're too busy mourning Lily to spend time with them, no matter how old they are, or how far away they live," Arthur gave his final piece of advice to his daughter.
A/N: I apologise for any typos/mistakes, I am literally uploading this on a really slow connection. And before you judge me for being thirteen and not knowing the perils of dial-up connections, my grandparents still have dial-up, and my cousins and I have attempted to watch YouTube videos on it.
