Marshmallow Kisses
The words that plagued Yellow's mind kept gnawing at her, begging to be said.
This happened a lot when she was with Red, more times than she would have expected. He got himself into these situations, and it made her long to say it.
The two of them had been together for so long. It should have been simple for her to tell him. Yet somehow their closeness made it more difficult. She kept worrying he might be upset when he heard it.
But she had to say it. She had to be true to him.
"Red-san…"
He glanced over at her, unsuspectingly. Her face felt warm; she told herself it was because she'd been drinking hot cocoa. Certainly it wasn't those shimmering garnet eyes falling on her that had such an effect.
She took a breath, and said those fateful words that had been on the tip of her tongue for the past ten minutes.
"You have whipped cream on your nose."
"Hm?" Red lifted his hand to his face. "Aw, man, this happens every time. Can't take me anywhere, can you, Yells?" He laughed, but part of her wondered if beneath that humour, there was a sense of insecurity, perhaps even the same one she had; that something would go wrong, that they would mess something up, that they would change in each others' eyes. But she realised how wrong they were. Because she loved the little things about him, he would feel the same about her. And they were far too determined to ever give upon their feelings.
Yellow took another sip of her cocoa, and this time, she purposely let the marshmallow topping hit her nose.
She grinned at him, knowing her giddy feeling had nothing to do with the sugar, and everything to do with him. "There. Now we match."
Two smiling kids with whipped cream on their noses.
Red leaned forward and kissed her nose, saying, "We do."
Two fools in love.
A/N: It's been a while!
I got a hot chocolate with a huuuuge amount of whipped cream and marshmallows the other day, and I was suddenly inspired. Sorry that I don't post things very regularly. I hope to write more soon.
Rant over! Read on!
