Yet another one-shot. Hope you enjoy my lack of angst at the moment. For some reason my muse will only visit me if I'm lacking sleep…
Oh and this is also very short as well. My stories are either way too short or way too long…
Simply Because- rerelai0neo
For some reason, Naruto was feeling depressed today. Maybe it was because nothing was going his way. He had woken up late, was out of instant ramen, he couldn't find his favorite jacket or his lucky boxers (don't ask), and his water heater was broken. And trust the only time that Kakashi showed up on time, to be the one time he was late. Then they got some crap-shot mission cleaning out a barn. During which, team seven had found out that even the cutest, most innocent looking cows hated Naruto.
So here he was, all sad and depressed and smelly inside his lonely apartment. Maybe he should get a cat, but then again, cats never seemed to like him either. And on top, he still couldn't find his orange jacket. He even cleaned his apartment. The last time he had done that was…uh…seven years …no… … … He couldn't remember the last time he had clean his whole apartment. He didn't even know that the carpet was green. He had forgotten that he even HAD carpet… And despite the family of rats and the teddy bear boxers (again…don't ask), and numerous other things (some of which seemed to be stuff out of science fiction books, was mold supposed to avoid cleaners like that?) he still hadn't found his jacket. He was just about ready to give up and cry when there was a knocking on his front door. Sighing, he went to answer it.
He opened the door, but nobody was there. He wasn't in any mood for the little prankster who normally did this. Growling angrily he was about to close the door when he happened to look down. There on his doormat was a box, wrapped in orange paper with a deep blue ribbon. He picked up the box and noticed a tag. It read "Simply Because" in typed fancy print. On the reverse it said, in neat hand writing that looked familiar, "I hope this makes your day a little bit better."
Inside the box was a bowl of Ichiraku's best (and most expensive) ramen. It was a kind he could only get on special occasions; he couldn't afford to buy it too regularly even if it was the best thing on the menu. His face broke into a wide grin.
Hinata watched Naruto open his door from her hiding place. She wished she could have given it to him in person but she was too shy. She saw that he didn't notice the box and was now even angrier, maybe she should have given it to him in person…but then she saw his face break into that famous smile of his and she couldn't help it…she smiled as well.
This was a whole page long when I wrote it down and now, even with my typing revisions, it isn't quite there (only 475 words)… Maybe someday I'll write a decent lengthened one-shot. Until then, I'll keep trying!
