A.N. Just how I thought she had coped when he left. Roy and Riza, if you already didn't realize that. Out of the fanfics that I have read on this topic, none of them really talk about what happened in the space between Roy leaving, and him coming back, and how she dealt without him. Please note that this is whatIthought happened, so it probably didn't actually happen. Anyway, I might add in a small bit on when he comes back, depending on how many people say I should. Your opinion counts! So, enough of my rambling, onward with the story.
Disclaimer: Nope. Wish I did, though.
She was waiting.
Waiting for him.
They couldn't do anything about it.
Only watch her crumble away.
When they had found out, Hawkeye had been at the shooting range. No-one was brave enough to go and tell her the truth; they all would rather face a lion than tell her the news. So they all waited in fear, for her to come back to the office.
Only then, would they have the heart to tell her the news.
But she didn't come back for a week.
They wondered whether she knew, or whether she was sick, but Havoc said that was bull, and that she did know, but wasn't going to think about coming back until one of them brought her back to her senses, and he had a feeling she wasn't going to come back until Mustang did.
So Havoc braved for the storm, and went to her apartment.
It was all very quick- first she was telling him to get the hell out of her apartment, the next, she was crying her heart out on his shoulder.
And after her breakdown of sobs, she told him that he would come back.
She knew he would.
It broke Havoc's heart to hear those words, with such determination on her face. But he agreed to it, and she smiled, and asked him whether he would like a cup of tea.
But everyday, her demure declined, and soon she was on the verge of tears again.
But this time she didn't break-down, and start again.
She forgot about him.
She didn't really forget him, it was more of an 'I don't care anymore-don't talk about him in front of me, or at me, for that matter'.
And that's what saddened them the most.
:
And when Al came to them, asking for a Brigadier General Mustang, they were afraid of her reaction, and how Al-who was merely asking, and didn't know what had happened-was going to take it.
But all she did was smile, and say that the Brigadier General wasn't here, and that he was wasn't coming back for a while.
And a little while after Al had visited, Havoc and Breda decided that they would go and see Mustang, and see whether he was going to come back at all. The meeting was shocking-Mustang was quiet, subdued, a complete opposite of the cocky, arrogant, Colonel that they had served under for many years. And when they were walking back, Breda felt that they should have told Hawkeye, but Havoc said that she wouldn't want to see him in this state, and besides, he had a feeling that the Lieutenant wasn't the one he was waiting for.
And when they arrived back in Central, they didn't say anything to Hawkeye, and waited for Mustang to come back to them, because they knew he would.
It would only take time.
