Companion
Introduction.
I do reccomend reading trough this, to understand as much as possible before jumping into the story :)
Companion: Is the companion piece of Opposition but with the happy ending of Severus/Lily. Slytherin Lily Evans and Gryffindor Severus Snape. Lily gets Severus`s life, by joining the death eaters, and then becomes the spy. Severus is one of the golden boys from Gryffindor with a kind and caring magical family, that breaks off from Lily. But as he is about to marry, Lily tries to repair their friendship. Harry Potter will still be born regardless in both of these two stories, and is the son of James Potter, of course.
Note: at the chapter named Breaking Point, Opposition and Companion will go in two whole different directions. Until then, they have the same pre-story. Both are written at the same time.
The basic change is the change in fortunes between Severus Snape and Lily Evans.
Meaning, James Potter will not be running around crushing after the red-head constantly, and instead turn on to «prank» her as he did in the canon books upon Snape. He will be conflicted eventually, later on. So it is said, Potter will be married and get his son. I don`t know who the mother is yet.
The second thing I had in mind is that I want Hogwarts to be more.. full. More grand, BIGGER in any sense. I am cranking up the student population to regularly around 61 students in each year in their respective house. Meaning Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor has roughly around 428 students each, meaning that the full popluation of Hogwarts usually runs on roughly 3000 students.
I am doing this so that the three schools we have heard about, Hogwarts, Beouxbatons and Durmstrang are actually the big and prestigious schools they seem to be. This also means more teachers, more prefects, and two or three more head boy`s AND girls. Now, Hogwarts is a huge castle, but I am sadly going to keep only one caretaker there, making the job much more harder to do. Also, to let Filch have a job. I like the guy.
Thirdly, we have the world itself. I am making more pure-blooded families with prestige than just the Princes, Blacks and Malfoys. A lot more, while not mentioned too much, they are there. And Diagon Alley is getting a boost up in size, making it easier to get lost with all the people constantly there, as well as in Hogsmeade, this way when it is desolate it would really feel more out of place.
I am also making Lily`s family the «perfect» little family, while on the poor side, where they are so stressfully ashamed of how they have not been able to prevent their youngest from mutating into this little freak of nature, that they are going to drastic measures. But in my mind, they still love her, but they keep the image of their little innocent girl in the yellow flowery dress in their head, BEFORE she displayed any sort of magic.
Petunia is infact slightly friends with the more Uptown Severus Prince. (I am having him take on his mothers maiden name as it is the family name of the Prince Family.)
Severus`s family is including Eileen`s, as they have never disowned her. Tobias`s parents are alive, and visits from time to time but live in Cardiff. The little Prince family are not rich however, as Eileen have not inherited more than her coming-of-age vault. Still they are on the upper side of the mediocre living style.
I am keeping the Evans family to have Mr. Evans work at a clinic, and Mrs. Evans to be a pleasant woman who loves to bake and tend to her small, but PERFECT garden to be her pride and joy along with her eldest daughter. The family are loosing hope about their youngest, and as such are trying their best to estrange themselves from her, as if she were someone pretending to be their daughter.
Now, my thoughts are as said that there is a change in fortune, thus it will also mean that there will be from slight, to dramatic changes in personality.
Example: Slight: Petunia. Still snooty and snobbish, but will also show that she cares for her sister. Still jealous of magic.
Example:Drastic: Tobias. He is a caring father that adores magic and wishes he could have some of his own so he could fly on a broom to work. Also slightly jealous of magic, but mainly positive about it.
He is a reformed alcoholic and avoids any sort of drinks due to knowing from his past youth just how bad it could be for his family.
This also means that I will change from what most describes skin to the more positive and negative of what it usually is. Example is Lily Evans being described with porcelain skin in some fan-fictions, are now being turned to pale, sickly and/or unhealthy. Severus`s is turned from exactly that to creamy, healthy and glowing.
The last thing I can think of right now is that I must warn you. I am a fan, BIG fan, of detailing things. And I have never, ever, written something like I am trying to do now. Meaning more talking past the 3-4 beginning chapters, writing fights, needing to do background checks to make sure I get so much correct as possible. If anyone would like to help me Beta-ing this, I would be delighted.
I know my writing is horrible, and my sentences will not make much sense, and for that I am truly sorry. I will do my best to update this Introduction page, as I plan on it changing as I go merrily along
in the story.
Thank you for reading trough all that, and I hope you enjoy the story. I take good criticism to heart and will do my best to improve.
