Darklantern12 passed back and forth.
"Dude, for Din's sakes," Shadow Link said, "just post it and get it out there already."
"Fine," Darklantern said, pulling out his laptop.
Darklantern12 presents
Zelda Theory:
Connecting Phantom Ganon to Adult Link
"Hi folks," Darklantern said, "my name's Darklantern12, and I'm a game theorist."
"And I guess I'm just here to help," Shadow Link said with a shrug.
"Then why are we here?" asked a confused Time Link, who was standing next to Phantom Time Ganon (who from now on for clarifications sake and my own sanity will be known as Steve) and Phantom Wind Ganon (who will now be George).
"You guys are here to help me prove or disprove a theory I have come up with," Darklantern12 said.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this," Time said.
Point 1: OoT isn't really time travel
"Alright," Darklantern said, "for this to work really, we have to understand a bit about the time mechanics in Ocarina of Time.
Ocarina of Time is unique in the fact that it takes a different approach of the sci-fi topic of traversing time and space, but is it really time travel? Well let's look at the facts:
When going to the past, Link reverts to his original age.
This is actually a big point is this theory of mine, in every instance of time travel, I've never seen this happen without severe influence from outside forces.
I've only seen it in a movie, and even then, the people time traveling had help of a relic, so why does this happen. Link doesn't seem to know much about time travel, and heck it's never really talk about why he turns younger by anyone. Hmmm...
Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that we never see another Link.
If the Link we're controlling is really time traveling, shouldn't we see another Link coming into the Temple of Time and pulling the Master Sword? Or at least in the enchanted sleep that made him miss seven years of his life? Of course then we'd just have a giant pile of sleeping kids in green tunics filling up the temple.
In all honesty, one could almost say this kinda 'time travel' is unheard of, and it almost is, save for one other instance...
MORTAL KOMBAT! DA-DA-DA-DU-DA-DA-DA-DU-DA-Du DA-DA-DA-DA-DU! (sorry, couldn't resist)
In the latest installment of the hit fighting game, the opening shows us the after effects of the fight for the powers of Armageddon, in which all but Raiden and Shao Kahn have been killed. Shao Kahn though is gleefully in the processes of giving the MK Universe's resident thunder god a brutal beat down. In a last ditch effort to save Earthrealm, Raiden takes the shattered pieces of his medallion and uses them to send a message back to his younger self in the past.
Anyone else think that sounds kinda familiar? No extra Raidens, no Benjamin Button cases, just using a magical god-forged item to send a message to a past version of yourself.
Now before anyone goes on a rampage saying that Link has no magic god-forged items, well...he does have the Master Sword.
"Is it a perfect start to this little side project of mine?" Darklantern12 says, "No, but it gives us a starting point for the really big bomb I'm going to be dropping in a little bit. but for now I'm going to keep you all in suspense."
"Remember to review," Shadow Link said.
"Right," Darklantern said, "and thanks to the people I bounced the theory off of before posting this, it really helped a bunch. I'll have more for you guys in about two or three days, so stay tuned."
