"Rough meeting tonight," Remus said gloomily as he entered the bedroom. "Apparently we're all going to become 'double agents' for the Order."
Nymeria closed the book she was reading, The Anamangus in You, and looked up at Remus. "I couldn't help but notice Dumbledore looking at me when he said it. I was in Slytherin, you remember, and so were a good number of You-Know-Who's close followers; I knew them well.... When we were at Hogwarts, I ate breakfast with future Death Eaters." She shook her head in disbelief and said quietly, "People who used to be my best friends in school have become my top-most enemies now."
They were silent for a moment, Nymeria lost in thought, Remus staring absent-mindedly at the floor. He suddenly looked very tired. "Let's not talk of the Order and whatnot, it's too depressing," He said with a smile. "I think I'll have a drink." Sighing, he put a hand to his light brown hair flecked with gray and shuffled over to the board for a drink.
As he poured himself a drink he asked, "Want anything? The strawberry Arbor wine is good; or maybe you'd prefer just some strong whiskey. I like the cherry moonshine, myself." He paused for a moment, sipping at his goblet, then added thoughtfully, "Figures. Moony's favorite spirit is moonshine." He grinned at Nymeria, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "So, what do you say? Join me in a toast?"
Nymeria smiled and put her book on the bedside table. "Well, I wasn't going to have anything, it's a bit late, but..." Remus's eyes, the color of golden wheat, flashed with life at her hesitation. "...But, what the hell," Nymeria finished with a shrug and a grin. She scooted off the bed to join Remus.
He poured her some cherry moonshine- powerful stuff- and handed her the goblet. "To... the moon," he said, smirking as he raised his cup.
"To love," Nymeria replied, following suit.
"To us," Remus finished quietly. There was a ::clink:: and they each took a sip, watching each other over the rim of their goblets.
"Ahhh." Remus licked his lips. "What else goes better with cherry moonshine than a nice little jazz number?" He grinned, his eyes twinkled, and he drained his cup. Placing the empty goblet on the board, he headed over to a small dusty radio. With a soft ::click:: the smooth sounds of jazz filled the room.
Nymeria smiled and set down her cup. "Shall we dance?" She held out her hand.
Remus glided across the room and took her hand in his. "I would be delighted," he said in a low, almost husky voice. His eyes never left hers as he lightly kissed her fingers.
Remus gently pulled Nymeria close, one hand grasping hers, the other resting lightly on her hip. Nymeria's free hand went to his chest.
And they danced. Their eyes never parted as Remus twirled and spun Nymeria, dipping her softly and slowly. In his eyes there was an intense desire and Nymeria could feel the heat radiating from his body. His mouth was slightly turned up into a mischievous half-smile.
Remus dipped Nymeria again- and only this once did their gaze break off as Nymeria let her head roll back, exposing her neck. Remus held her there and leaned forward, exhaling warm breath onto her skin. She smiled and giggled. This simple action caused Remus's breathing to quicken. He lightly kissed her collarbone. When he pulled her back up from the dip, Nymeria's cheeks were a flush hue of rose, her breathing was heavy, and her green eyes sparkled. For a moment, all movement was forgotten and Remus and Nymeria stood as if frozen in the act of dancing. Their eyes were locked and their chests rose and fell quickly.
Nymeria breathed, "Is the door locked?"
"Uh-huh." Remus nodded.
He leaned in and kissed Nymeria deeply and passionately. As he pulled away, he smiled and whispered, "Tastes like cherry moonshine."
