Using It As An Escape

Luna Lovegood always loved the rain. She just didn't like using it as an escape. But she did. It was that simple. The fact that the rain poured hard, just like where she had been born, made her miss her family even more.

Coward. It's what she was. And what she would always be. Well, at least as long as she would go outside just for the feeling of chills running down her spine. She could only continue to wonder why she liked rain so much.

Was it the way it brought her mind to wander to the sounds of her home? The rain hitting the metal roof, was really just her brother and her playing marbles, and the loud sound of the little circle glass when they hit together. The sound of the splash when cars drove through puddles, was only just the sound of her mother laughing at the silliness of her little girl.

Maybe the reason why Luna liked the rain was because she didn't have to hide her tears. She could walk through the rain, and no one would even know that she was sobbing silently.

All of those could be reasons why she loved the rain...But no, it had to be the way it made her cold, yet so warm. The way that she could feel so pitiful, yet be unable to frown. How could people think the rain makes you sad? Or unhappy? How could they think that it brings gloomy thoughts. No, she was always happiest when it rained.

When was the last time she saw them? That's what she wondered when she looked at her clock. Three months, two weeks, one day, eleven minutes, and forty-three, forty-five, no forty-six seconds, she was pretty sure.

The thought of time, brought her back to the letters she would write and what they really meant. She wrote what she could, and thought what she meant.

'Thanks for always taking care of me.' --- I'm amazed how you did it.

'I hope to see you soon.' --- I miss you more than you could know.

'I guess that is all I have to write.' --- Or all I can, without crying.

'And I just wanted to say hi.' --- Cause It's too painful to say goodbye.

And she always loved the fact that when her letter to home were smeared, she could just blame it on the rain. She didn't really have to say the truth. Which is she was crying so hard, her hands shook, making it hard to write words, and even harder to read.

Yeah, the rain pretty much soothed her. Cause Luna Lovegood always loved the rain. She just didn't like like using it as an escape. But she did. It was that simple.
