Brittany sunk into the couch situated in her living room. Her swollen stomach moving now and then, thanks to the little balls of life that existed inside.
She sighed and placed a hand on her baby bump, smiling at the small kick she received for doing so.
Working as a retail assistant was never her dream job, but she had to do what she could to earn money for her growing family.
It was 5:30pm. Alvin would be home soon. No sooner did Brittany think of her husband, did he come walking through the front door of their home.
Alvin smiled as he greeted his wife, seemingly paying more attention to the movements happening inside her stomach. "Hey hon, you feeling ok? No pain or anything?"
Brittany giggled. It was amusing to see Alvin's caring side, especially when it came to her. She looked back at her husband, a small smirk gracing her face.
"Yea I feel fine. I didn't get any pain today, despite having Braxton hicks yesterday. I really just want these two out of me!"
Alvin chuckled at his wife, even when she was pregnant; she was still the same old whiny diva he'd grown up with.
Alvin set his stuff down and belly flopped onto their couch.
"I'm hungry."
Brittany looked at her dramatic husband and scoffed.
"Well don't expect me to make you something."
Alvin immediately sat up, wide eyed. "Why? Please babe I'm starving. You wouldn't want me to starve would you?"
Brittany slowly shook her head as she watched her 'mature' husband beg in front of her.
"Alvin, no. I was thinking maybe we could just get Chinese tonight. I'm really tired and I don't feel like cooking."
Alvin watched as Brittany sat next to him and lay her head on his left shoulder. A smirk crept onto his face.
"Fine. I'll go order."
Brittany squealed in delight as Alvin made his way over to the house phone. "Tell them to hurry, because I'm pregnant."
Jeanette slowly made her way inside her house. The front door, being held up by her left forearm, as she carried textbooks and papers in the other hand.
When she got inside, she dropped the things she was carrying onto the desk in the den. Looking at the time, she realized she would need to get a start on dinner pretty soon if she wanted it ready by the time Simon got home.
Simon usually had slightly erratic work hours, due to working in a lab. Sometimes he would leave early in the morning and be home at midday, and on days like today, he was usually home at 7:00pm.
There were times when Jeanette wished he wouldn't work as late, only because they would eat dinner, Jeanette would mark assessments or homework, and Simon would be cooped up in the study on his laptop.
She just wanted to sit down with her husband and watch a movie, or even just talk to him.
Jeanette began to cut up vegetables to bake in the oven for dinner, and just as she was doing so, Simon's car pulled into the driveway. A small buzz of electricity went through Jeanette when she saw his car; she was excited to finally see Simon after a long day.
When Simon got into the house he walked up behind Jeanette and wrapped his arms around her small waist.
"Guess who has the rest of the week off."
She turned around and smiled at Simon. "Oh my gosh! Wha- how, I mean you…how?"
Simon kissed his wife on the forehead. "Well, the boss said I haven't had any leave since I started working with them, and he gave me the rest of the week off."
Jeanette smiled and tightened her grip on her husband. "I'll call the school and see if I can get a few days. I mean, the last time I had time off was 3 years ago when I had the flu."
Simon's smile grew wider. "We can finally spend some time together."
Jeanette grinned, and pecked her husband several times on the lips.
Eleanor was making dinner in the kitchen, as Theodore turned on the tv. Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares was on and showed him yelling at a chef.
Eleanor laughed at the segment before looking at Theodore with her chocolate eyes.
"Promise me, our future restaurant will never end up on that show."
Theodore turned around to his wife and laughed with her. "Oh trust me, I don't think we'll end up on that."
Eleanor's small smile grew when she felt their baby kick for the first time. "Theo come here! I just felt the baby kick!"
Theodore ran into the kitchen and immediately put his hand on his wife's stomach, and after a few short moments, he too felt their baby kick.
"Oh Ellie! He's gonna be a little soccer champ just like his mom!"
Eleanor giggled at her husband's enthusiasm.
"Dinner will be ready soon if you want to have a shower?"
"Yea I might." Theodore began to make his way up the stairs.
That's when the phone rang.
