Farewell, Iggy
A Hey Arnold fanfic
by LDEJRuff
Note from the Author: This is for Xavior the Lycan (Xion-Nightblade), who has refused to forgive me since late 2011. I want him to know how it felt for me since that day, after reading this fanfic.
It's been a few months since the now-unpopular cool kid, Iggy, had humiliated Arnold, who refused to forgive him since, in front of the neighborhood. And it was all on account of Iggy thinking that Arnold had blabbed the secret of him wearing bunny pajamas, leading to his humiliation, when it was actually Stinky Peterson and Sid who told everyone at P.S. 118.
Anyway, it all started one night near Sunset Arms. Iggy was taking a walk around, looking sadly at the boarding house. He felt bad for humiliating Arnold in front of the neighborhood. And it was too bad for him, because Arnold was still angry at him. Iggy hung his head in sadness, walked away from the house, refusing to enter it, and didn't look back.
Inside his room, Arnold was reading a book when he heard gunfire outside. This suddenly snapped him out of his reading. Arnold rushed downstairs to the front door, and when he opened it, what he saw on the sidewalk made him gasp in complete shock.
"IGGY!"
The unpopular kid lay on the sidewalk face-up, arms spread out, head facing the boarding house, sunglasses broken. Arnold rushed toward him. Iggy weakly opened his eyes when Arnold came.
"Hey...Arnold."
"Iggy, what were you thinking?" Arnold asked. "You know you're not supposed to go near the boarding house. When I heard the gunshot, I didn't think you'd get involved."
"Arnold," Iggy whispered. "I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry." With that, he gave out his last breath and closed his eyes.
Arnold gasped in sadness. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" he shouted, holding Iggy's now-lifeless body in his arms.
The following morning, at P.S. 118, Mr. Simmons had looked at his classroom sadly.
"Everyone, it is with deep regret that we have lost one of our students last night," he said. "Iggy was taken from us during a shooting."
This bit of news affected Sid and Stinky the most, because they felt pretty bad about finding out the fact that Iggy wore bunny pajamas.
Arnold, still sad since last night, had looked down at his desk.
"I can't believe he's gone," he thought. "I never forgave him, and now, it's too late. Iggy."
"I just can't believe it," Gerald Johanssen whispered. "Iggy was unpopular one day, the next, he's gone."
"Poor Iggy," Rhonda Lloyd whispered, about as sad as Arnold was.
"Well, there goes one of the unpopulars," Helga said, sarcastically. "Whatever. I never liked him anyway."
A few days later, at the Hillwood Cemetery, everyone, including Arnold, attended the funeral for Iggy.
"Thank you all for coming today," Iggy's mother greeted. "I know it may not be much for me to say about him, but Iggy was a good kid, that was, until his humiliation. I even respect Arnold, even though he was humiliated himself, but I..." She broke down into tears before continuing. "I'm going to miss my son very much."
As the casket was lowering, Arnold looked down sadly, and threw one last rose. Sad that he can never take anything back, Arnold whispered, "Farewell, Iggy. I'm sorry for everything. In the end, I didn't really need a friend...just someone I knew."
