Hey, I kinda wrote this hastily on a whim. It's just a little follow up.
Please review.
The President of the United States, Jonathon Brady—a 74 year old, tall, skinny, gray-haired man with countless wrinkles on his forehead earned through a mixture of age and (mostly) stress—picked up the ringing phone on his desk in the presidential office. "Yes…….That is most unfortunate…..I see…….I understand. Thank you, Kevin," he hung up the phone.
"What was the news, sir?" a twenty-something year old man standing by the door of the office said.
"It seems that the mission on Pandora to obtain a source of Unobtainium was a failure," he said far calmer than the situation deserved.
"Failed?" the man said, shocked that the America, the country with the single most powerful army in this solar system, had failed.
"Don't worry," the president said as he poured himself a glass of scotch from the bottle on his desk, "we still have many planets in this galaxy where operations haven't gone past setting up base."
"What do you plan to do?"
"Hmm," the president looked at the several folders on his desk marked 'For Your Eyes Only' and picked one up, "this will do," he opened the folder, "Tell Dr. Ackley to come to my office," he ordered the man, "he should be in the lab, so you'll have to go down to the basement."
"Yes, sir," the man said before leaving the office.
President Brady stared at the numerous folders on his desk and smiled, "Let's see if the Sirius system does as good a job as Pandora's residents did." he leaned back in his chair with a smile. 'It will be mine,' he thought, 'everything will be mine.' He stood up, walked to the window behind his desk and look outside. 'This is what life is supposed to be like,' he thought, 'cities and pavement. Not trees and mountains.' He widened his smile as he thought of the speech he would give when he became the most famous president in history.
"Jake," Neytiri said, noticing her mate's lack of interest in the celebration of the Pandoran victory, "why you look sad? This night special for all on Pandora."
"I know," he said as he looked around at all the Na'vi conversing with each other and playing with the many beautiful forms of life found on Pandora, "but I just can't shake off this feeling."
"What you feel?" she asked, "Why you so nervous on night like this? It time for celebration. We drove the sky people away."
"I know, but is that really the end of it?"
"Jake," she said as she playfully hit him on the arm, "you worry too much. The sky people won't be back."
"It's not Pandora that I'm worried about," Jack said, "what's to stop the RDA from invading other planets, other homes? The RDA is not a company that will give back after one mission. They will keep going to other planets thinking they can take what they want. It will never end." Neytiri didn't know what to say. She was not a human, she did not understand them as Jake did. Unlike him she did not…could not understand human nature.
"If they are strong of heart," she said as she took his hand in hers, "they will survive." she said, "and one day, the sky people will learn too see…they will learn." Although still worried, he smiled. He felt a huge weight being lifted off his chest by Neytiri's words. She leaned her head against Jake's shoulder and they stared at the celebration lit by the beautiful, glowing lights of Pandora.
Anyone can learn to truly see. But first they have to be willing to throw away all that they think they know…….
Well, that's my Avatar short. Isn't it sad that this is probably what went through the president's mind after he found out that almost all humans were banished from Pandora? Kinda shows how evil people can be.
Anyway, thanks for reading. Please Review.
