It doesn't matter that my hair was out of it's tie and tangled up. It doesn't matter that my eyes are heavy and my mind wants to rest. It doesn't matter that it's almost three o'clock in the fucking morning. It doesn't matter, at least not to my dumb ass brother and his shrill ass wife.
My hand is lazily on the receiver of the phone, silently cursing my blonde brother for constantly getting into fights and arguments with his wife. After quite a few calls from both Edward and Winry, I was told to stay by the phone, probably to hear more bitching from the two of them on separate lines.
My head tilts to the side as I hear the door open, my lover walking inside and shutting the door. He give me an incredulous look and hangs up his coat next to the door.
"Al, what on earth are you still doing awake?" He asks, slipping his shoes off before approaching the chair I'm laying lazily in. "I thought you would be in bed sleeping by now."
"Well." I sit up slowly, the previous position not being kind to my lower back. "I would be in bed, but Ed and Winry got into an argument. Another… fucking argument." I sighed and ran my hand through my tangled hair, eyeing Roy when I heard him chuckle. "What's so funny?"
"Oh nothing." He said, smiling softly and running his own fingers through my hair, kissing my forehead ever so gently. "You're just adorable when you're irritated." He said with a slight smirk, his voice lowering a bit.
A small smirk appears on my own lips, but it's one of exhaustion. "Oh? So my swearing and being irritable turns you on?" I ask, seeming somewhat amused at how Roy could still be in the mood for sex at three in the morning.
"Hey now," He said, trying to look offended, I smile softly at how bad he is at acting. "I never said anything like that. But if you were to swear more, I wouldn't be opposed to it." He smirked lightly and pulled my hand off the phone, which I was still holding onto without realizing.
I chuckle quietly and hug onto him tiredly, sliding my hand up his chest and around his neck, tangling my fingers in his dark locks. His smirk widens as he leans down, capturing my lips with his in a deep and slow kiss. I silently thank him, loving the passion he puts into the kiss.
He pulls back and scoops me up into his arms. "Come on, it's three o'clock and I'm tired. Working till all hours of the night, I've managed to get all my paperwork done." His grip tightens as he walks to the bedroom. "So I can sleep in."
He sets me down gently on the bed and pushes my bangs away from my face, kissing my forehead softly. My eyes close slowly as I lean into the touch, but the moment doesn't last long as I hear an annoying ring echo through the house. I sigh and move to get up, but a strong hand gently pushes me back onto the bed.
"I'll be right back." He said, smiling lightly at me. I close my eyes and listen to his feet leave the room. I relax once I hear the ringing of the phone stop, feeling the weight roll off my shoulders as Roy talks to whoever is on the other end. I hear him hang the phone up and walk back to the room, smiling softly as I take note of him taking extra soft steps into the room.
The mattress dips as he gets in next to me, pulling the blankets up and holding me close. I smile again, even though I was tired. It doesn't matter that my hair is tangled and messy. It doesn't matter that I'll sleep in till the afternoon. It doesn't matter, because I'm relaxed now, in the arms of my friend, my lover, my Flame Alchemist.
