Last Words

It's midnight and I still can't sleep
This pain is cutting much too deep
I know tomorrow will be new
When someone else's dreams come true
But there is no release for me
I can't escape my destiny
I don't intend to try and run
I know I'll do what must be done
I just wish I had had more time
And written more than just a rhyme...

I do not know who reads these words
And frankly I don't care
I just beg you to realize
That someone's always there
Don't make the same mistake I did
Don't run from your dark past
Hold tight onto the good times
Don't let the darkness last
It's too late for me now, of course
I let my last chance go
To tell Van that I'll miss him
Or... could he already know?
