Ok, this is Trent as a singing phenom, this song is dedicated to his 'Dearest Gwyneth' so yea...ENJOY!

Disclaimer: Me no own Trent, me no own song, me no own um...what's the word I'm lookin 4? Um oh yea, I DON'T OWN SHYT! Except...this super cheezy storeh. Hee hee.

Trent sit's on a stool in the middle of his stage. He takes out his guitar and tunes it. The curtains lift on the 9th and last performance on his tour. He scans the crowd and his eyes land on one person in particular. It was her. The girl who broke his heart all those years ago. The girl he still hasn't given up on. Gwen. He taps on the microphone to get everyone's attention.

"Thank you guys for comin tonight, this number was written for someone close to my heart. I hope that person know's it's them." he clears his throat and begins strumming on his guitar. He looks directly at Gwen and begins singing.

Yeah-

You are
my fire

The one
desire

Believe
when I say

I want it that way

But we are
two worlds apart

Can't reach
to your heart

When you say
That I want it that way

[Chorus:]
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way

Am I your fire?
Your one desire?
Yes I know it's too late
But I want it that way

[Chorus]
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way

Now I can see that we're falling apart
From the way that it used to be, yeah
No matter the distance
I want you to know
That deep down inside of me...

You are
my fire

The one
desire

You are
You are, you are, you are-

Don't wanna hear you say
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way

Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way
I want it that way

I want it
That way...

The crowd cheered and he bowed. He looked at Gwen with hope in his eyes. Had she gotten the message? Tears welled up in her eyes. She began to walk away. He jumped off the the stage and-thank God for bodyguards-made his way to Gwen. He grabbed her arm.

"Gwen..." she turned.

"Trent, I'm sorry. You're too late." she said.

"What?"

"I married Duncan a year and a half ago. And I love him. I can't just leave him because you wrote me a song. Trent, it was beautiful, but I-I just can't."

"You are, my fire-"

"Trent, please..."

"My one, desire. I don't wanna hear you say-"

"Trent I'm sorry, but I want it that way." she hugged him and stared in his sad face.

"Gwen..."

"Trent. I'm with Duncan yes, but we can still be friends. Don't look at me like that. I haven't forgotten you, but we can't be any more than friends. Here is my number. Try not to abuse it ok? 1 call every other day sound good?" he smiled softly. At least they can still be friends.

"Sounds great."

"Knock 'em dead." she kissed his cheek and walked away. She looked back and waved, then left.

"Thank you Gwen." he whispered.
