Kevin Levin paced the hallway, anxiously; the laboratory was soundproofed against even alien ears. He had been banished from the room because apparently he was getting too antsy. They were being stupid; of course he was nervous. His beloved Gwen Tennyson was giving birth, to his kid no less. His DNA was so wacky a million things could go wrong and she could get hurt or worse. He couldn't stand the thought of losing the redhead. Losing the baby would be bad, but not as bad as losing Gwen.

Everyone had assured him that normally nothing went wrong but he thought them all idiots, yes even Gwen herself in this, for forgetting that nothing was normal about their lives. Especially his life; things went wrong in his life with an alarming frequency and this, this was liable to go very, very, very wrong if the karma scales weren't in his favor.

Dammit, he couldn't hear anything. They had been there all day and most of the night; did these things usually take so long or had there been a problem? He had known something wou—he heard the sound of pressurized air escaping a formerly sealed room and spun around to see Julie beckoning him into the room. She didn't even have to say anything as he had already sped into the room and to Gwen's bedside, looking her over worriedly.

She was resting, eyes closed; her face was flushed with exertion and there was sweat and tears drying on her face. Other than her red cheeks she was rather pale and he began to worry that she had lost too much blood. But as soon as he had shifted his weight on his feet she opened her eyes to give him a weary, satisfied smile, saying softly, "No problems."

He grinned back, relieved that she seemed to be okay just tired.

"Everything went smoothly," Cooper's voice said as the blonde walked up, a bundle in his arms. It was pink, signifying a baby girl. Most likely a baby Anodite in her human form.

"There was just an unforeseen complication…" Cooper had just handed Gwen the girl when Julie tapped Kevin on the shoulder. He spun around to find his friend holding a second, blue, bundle and she explained, "Baby A hid him from the ultrasound; plus he was very stubborn in his idea of staying when his sister left. Take him so I can go change, they've gotten blood everywhere."

Numbly he took his son before turning back to his redhead.

"Ironic." Was his only word.

She laughed, nodding, "But oddly fitting. So, a boy's name…"

"Devlin," was his quiet but firm assertion.

Her lips curved into an understanding, soft smile and she nodded her agreement, "Aaralyn and Devlin Levin…or should she be a Tennyson?"

"No, Levin," he again declared firmly but gently, "I want both of them to have my name…"

He looked down at his children, both already had puffs of black hair and their eyes were changing from blue to green already. Devlin looked more like Gwen while Aaralyn looked more like himself.

"Maybe being crazy isn't all that bad…"
