He'd never been more proud of the color green than he was the day he saw it on her for the first time. From that moment on the sea foam color was branded into his brain as the color of desire. The color that he wanted to stand beside each day. The color that he sparred with. The color that he laughed with.
His mouth snapped shut, and he watched her eyes narrow at him.
"Didn't think I could do it, did you?"
He shook his head no. He didn't mean no, however. He meant 'no that's not what I think'. He was too busy staring at her, in her new uniform, to think straight.
"You're all idiots!" She shouted, and pushed his chest. "Girls are just as good as boys!"
He stared at her and shook his head again. 'no, that's not what I meant.' But the words wouldn't come off his tongue.
She pulled back her fist and punched him right in the gut for that. How could he say that? That he didn't think women were as strong as men? He was her friend, after all! She stormed off after that.
Pipit turned around and looked over his shoulder at her.
Seriously.
He was way too proud of her for words.
