Disclaimer: No, Fruits Basket is not mine.
Author's note: Again something short. I had the idea while reading the part when Machi 'rescues' Yuki from the store room, where he was locked in. Witten in fifteen minutes, without proofread, so there may be some mistakes. Please enjoy anyways!

Perfection
When she first heard about him and how perfect he was, she felt slightly intrigued. That was the only reason she agreed to be part of the student council. Machi had never met someone who was perfect and she liked to see someone who was. Not because she liked perfection, but because she hated it.
She hoped he wouldn't turn out to be perfect, so she would have a reason to sneer secretly at all his admires and if he, for some miraculous reason, turned out to be perfect, she would do anything to destroy this perfection. That was what she always felt forced to do. Destroy something that was perfect.
When she first saw him, perfect smile, perfect white skin, perfect manners, perfect in everything he did, she felt the urge to destroy something again.
It lasted until she noticed that he wasn't perfect at all. It was something small in the way he moved, how he looked at people and those little signs of insecureness, that made her notice.
Later she found out that he really wasn't perfect, that he was probably even more broken and imperfect than she was. But she saw something different in him as well and this was perfection. Under all those layers of fake perfection and true imperfection, laid something absolutely brilliant, like a raw diamond covered by coal.
A brilliant, beautiful and perfect soul, though frail and easily to be broken.
And for the first time the urge to destroy something perfect ceased. Instead she wanted to protect it, protect him, even though she had no idea how to do this, because she had spend so much time with destroying things, but she would try.
