Numb to the world. Numb to all around them.
Giles stared down at the hard granite as Buffy stood solemnly and dutiful by his side. There were no words she could find to ease his pain. Guilt rang silently.
'I'm sorry I couldn't kill him for you.'
Rupert Giles drew a deep breath.
'In my years as... Watcher... I've buried... too many people. But Jenny was the first I've loved.'
