Chapter 1 Welcome Home!

Elena finished packing the last boxes left ready to leave. Well, not exactly ready, but she had to be. She was going to leave her life in New York. After 16 years of growing up there she was going back to the one place she thought she wasn't going to visit ever again. A small town in Virginia, Mystic Falls. She was born there but soon her family moved to New York when they found out her mother was pregnant of her brother Jeremy. Her dad had been promoted so they were moving back there.

She was upset but she understood it was for good. She was 17, she got it. But it was her senior year and she wished she could have finished school there. But her parents promised she could come back for college. But that seemed so far away.

"Elena bring the boxes the truck has to leave now!" She was cut off her thinking by the voice of her mother telling her to hurry up. She soon was downstairs watching the truck going to her new home. Or old?

She turned around to watch her house one last time before saying farewell. It was incredible how many memories were going to kept marked in here. She had said farewell to her friends as well promising they were going to see each other for their graduation.

"I'm sorry we have to leave guys, I know how much this house means to you." Her dad spoke rubbing her back reassuringly.

Jeremy slightly nodded and now they were going to the car, in their way to Mystic Falls. They were both silent each of them with their earplugs in ready for a long road.

She was trying to fall asleep but after 2 hours of trying she finally gave up. She was uncomfortable and upset while her brother was almost snoring besides her. She now was looking through her window with nothing else more interesting to do. She was going to drive insane if she had to spend the next 6 hours doing nothing else but sitting.

The landscape wasn't that enjoyable either and just when she was about to turn to attempt to sleep again she saw something. She saw someone in the middle of nowhere with a leather jacket and red liquid dripping through his mouth. The image left her baffled wondering if it she had actually gone crazy or if it was the lack of sleep. She turned to see if she could catch another glimpse but it was gone.

She tried to forget what she just had seen and after an hour of battling she drifted off to sleep. But after half an hour she woke up sharply. She turned cautiously to check if someone had seen her but they were all asleep besides from her father that was driving. That image was chasing her. In her dream she was trying to get close to him but with every step she gave forward it faded away. She then knew it hadn't been her imagination, she had actually seen something. It wouldn't leave her alone.

Why would someone be in the middle of nowhere? Who was this man? Was it blood the liquid dripping from his mouth? So many questions she overthought for the rest of the road. She stopped thinking when his dad woke up everybody to announce they were finally there.

"We are here!" He almost screamed.
