Shadow's Wings
You held me close when
the blood flowed down
my pale flesh, and it
flowed nonstop.
My spirit was leaving me fast,
unable to stay a moment longer.
The darkness called for me.
Defending you was my duty,
I gladly took the fatal hit,
and knocked on Death's door,
knowing it was soon the end.
With no strength to stand,
you held me close,
and carried me home...
When we got home,
I was no more...
I was gone and you held me,
not wanting to let go.
Tears of sadness and sorrow
fell from your crimson eyes,
never to see my life continue to grow.
Your lips touched mine one last time,
hoping my soul will be safe.
I'll watch over you from
the shadows of heaven above
with wings colored black.
