Chapter 1: The moving city

A fan fiction comprising of two characters Talwin mesrodor and Silfesk and their adventure in the great moving Bosmer city Falinesti. The elder scrolls series is owned by Bethesda

Talwin mesrodor felt at home as soon as he stepped foot onto Falinesti. He had been travelling all over Tamriel for nearly 6 years now and ever since he set foot in Valenwood he had yearned to return to his home. As soon as the guard looked him over and inspected his belongings Talwin rushed forwards towards a curious wooden platform surrounded by railings and curiously held in place by vines.

"You seem very eager" said a voice behind him. It was that of the Agorian Silfesk whom Talwin meet in his travels. The guard stood near Silfesk gave him strange looks for a while before letting him through. Silfesk got onto the platform and it began to ascend upwards.

"Can you believe the people here? Every one of them thinks' I'm going to steal from them or worse kill them!" Silfesk said but Talwin wasn't listening as he was looking over the rails down to the ground below. Below them were six wooden collapsible towers arranged around a platform in the tree were many people entering the city were greeted by guards and pulled upwards with vines and platforms.

The Bosmer city of Falinesti was built, like many of the cities in Valenwood, in the centre of a great tree. But it was not just an ordinary tree for every winter the tree would be in the north and every summer it would move towards the south.

The platform stopped with a shuddering halt on the main city level of the city. Talwin and Silfesk stepped off the platform before it descended. "Look over there, that's the inn I've been talking about." Talwin said pointing towards an inn built into the side of the tree which had a sign with the barely readable words "The gilded leaf the finest inn in all of Valenwood" below that there was a golden leaf scratched and weathered away over time.

"Thank the gods, now you can stop pestering me about it all the time!" said Silfesk. Talwin laughed with him and they started walking towards the gilded leaf. The interior of the inn was a very strange sight for Silfesk. The tables and chairs were carved out off the tree itself with clothes covering the hard wooden surfaces. The bar was also built out of the tree with nooks and crannies filled with wines and beers.

"Well well well, look who's showed up after his long years travelling," Yelled the Inn keeper to Talwin "And he's brought back a friend to!" He yelled again turning to Silfesk.

"And hello to you to Armoss!" Talwin replied to Innkeeper Armoss "This is my friend Silfesk and you obviously remember me!"

"I certainly do Talwin!" yelled Armoss "Now I'm guessing you'll want a room and a drink, am I right?"

"Yes, your right," Talwin answered "We will want two rooms each and a two pints of Falinesti nectar please!"

Talwin placed 45 coins on the counter and Armoss told his assistant to get their drinks. Talwin and Silfesk sat down a few moments later with two pints of ale. Talwin drank his greedily and his tankard was half empty when Silfesk began to drink. Silfesk took a sip of the drink and placed it down on the table.

"Well?" Talwin asked.

"You know what, Talwin that isn't that bad." Silfesk replied and the two laughed and told joke the rest of the evening.
