This fanfic was originally called 'random can't make it'. The title made me laugh. But seriously, it's RANDOM CAN'T MAKE IT! :D
Disclaimer: No, I don't own ADJL, okay? (runs off crying)
Night felt colder than day in Hong Kong, Jake thought. On this night in particular, it was quieter than it was in the rest of the world. The grasses danced along with the wind, tickling Jake's skin as he lay down a soft patch of it. He stared out into the dark sky that gleamed with twinkling stars. Breathing in the cool night air, he turned his head to the girl who laid beside him.
Rose had her body turned towards Jake, her cheek rested on her hand that had its arm outstretched. She looked into Jake's eyes and smiled. He returned her smile, the smile that warmed Rose's body.
"What?" Jake asked, laughing slightly.
Rose's smile widened. "Nothing, I'm just looking at how cute your hair looks."
"Oh really?" Jake grinned. "Well, there is a better view than this."
"And what's that?"
"Look in a mirror and you'll find out," Jake smiled as Rose blushed. She sat up and wrapped her arms around her knees. Jake copied her actions. A slight breeze blew pass them and Rose leaned closer to Jake. Jake grinned as he placed an arm around Rose. "You cold?" he asked.
"Not if you can help," she whispered, her voice as soft as snow. She rested her head on Jake's shoulder as he moved his arms, wrapping it around Rose. She sighed into his shoulder. "I'll miss you when you leave Hong Kong, Jake."
Jake looked down, then up to the sky. "Rose, could you do something for me?"
Rose looked taken aback, but said, "Sure. What is it?"
"Imagine a star."
"There are plenty of stars here, Jake." she answered, moving her gaze to the sky.
"Yeah, but just imagine a shooting star."
Rose looked at Jake, a look of humour crossed her face. Nonetheless, she imagined a shooting star. "Okay. Now what?"
"Now, make a wish."
She knew it was coming, so Rose squeezed her eyes shut and made a wish. She opened them to look at Jake, whose eyes were closed too as he was probably making a wish. His eyes fluttered open and he asked, "What did you wish for?"
Rose smiled playfully. "If I told you, then it wouldn't come true."
"Come on," Jake laughed. "Tell me."
"Okay," she began. "I wished this moment would last forever."
Jake stared up at the stars. "The star said your wish will come true because this moment is when we're in each other's heart. And that's where I'll always be. In your heart, Rose."
Rose moved her hand to trail her fingers along Jake's cheek. Shifting his head, Jake kissed her sliding fingers. "What did you wish for, Dragonboy?" Rose couldn't help but ask.
Jake chuckled at the name. "Baby, there's no need for me to wish for anything, because all I want is right here."
Rose flashed Jake a look that screamed, "You sure?"
"Fine," Jake looked down. "I wished that I would never lose you again."
Seeing the pain written on his face, Rose turned Jake's head so that he was facing her. "You won't lose me again, I promise."
"How sure are you of that?"
Rose withdrew her hands from Jake's face and hugged her knees again. "Because the star said so."
Jake glanced over at Rose and laughed. He knew she was right, all was well and they would never lose each other. Not unless they stop loving one another, which Jake believes, will never happen. Several quiet moments passed. "Rose?"
There was no answer. Rose was already asleep, her face calm, the beautiful smile never leaving her face. Jake smiled, rested his head against hers. "In your heart Rose. Always."
Yeah, it's random and it can't make it. :D
For those who are reading 'Explain this to me', I will finish it, but I'm currently on hiatus. From it. Only it. It. Get it? Yes, IT. Okay, now go press it. No, I meant that it. The 'it' in the box that says 'Go'. You know, it. Yeah… it.
