One Art
The art of magic isn't hard to master;
So many things seem filled with logic
That their loss is much a disaster.
Lose more logic every day. Accept the fluster
of lost numbers, the news poorly reported.
The art of magic isn't hard to master.
Then practice magic more, magic quicker:
spells, and potions, and how it is to pronounce
incantations correctly. None of these will bring disaster.
I magically called upon pixies. And look! my beloved, or
sort-of-beloved, classroom has been torn to shreds.
The art of magic isn't hard to master.
I cast many charms, lovely ones. And, even more,
some spells I wished I hadn't, a (few) memory charm(s).
I love them, but it wasn't a (total) disaster.
--Even logical you (the serious voice, a gesture
I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident
the art of magic's not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) a disaster.
