'You won't be forgotten, Kara Thrace' Lee turned to look out over the green hills and fields surrounding him.
'I really hope not' she said, pushing her upper body up on her arms from the long grass where she had been lying.
'Frak me Kara. I thought you'd gone.' He went over to see what she had been looking at.
'Where would I go?'
'But you said...' Lee trailed off.
'My journey's over Lee. So I think it's time to start a new one. Here. Home.' She stared at her reflection in the small pool of water she had laid down beside her, nervous, and yet excited, about what came next.
'So what are you going to do with this new life?'
'Climb some mountains, sail some seas and maybe finish it all off with a white picket fence.' Lee took a minute to let the words sink in. Then he looked at her.
'Alone?' Behind one word were a thousand trademark Starbuck grin crossed her face. Lee was so intent on watching her face that he missed her hand dipping into the pool until he was showered with ice cold water.
'Starbuck' he shook his head, thinking the moment was gone until she rolled on top of him, pinned him down and kissed him.
'Not alone. Definitely not alone again.'
This time it was Lee who initiated the kiss, unaware that high above him Bill Adama was looking on with a smile on his face. Life would be good on the new earth.
