-1Seeley Booth paced the length of his living room. Bones was on her way over and he still had no idea how to ask her. She's an independent woman. She doesn't believe in monogamy. How am I ever going to convince her to agree with this. Booth paced even faster, if that was possible. His socks, the purple and yellow polka dot ones she bought him, were starting to wear from all his pacing.
Sighing, he slumped into his chair. He fingered the small object he was preparing to give her. How should he tell her he was ready for this next big step. He thought they were ready. They had been partners for six years, best friends for five years, and a couple for a year. It seemed only logical that they take it one step further.
Logical? She was really getting to him. And yet he didn't mind. Her logical approach to life made him love her all the more. Yes, he could freely admit it now. He was in love with his best friend. Even though they'd been dating for a year, he had never told her he loved her. Not because he didn't feel it. He felt it everyday, when she smiled at him as he placed a hand on the small of her back, when he watched her examine their latest victim, even when she was yelling at him about his alpha-male tendencies. He loved her for all those reasons and every unique thing about her. He just hadn't told her because he could tell she wasn't ready to hear him say those three words. Well now he had four more words for her. He just hoped she was ready to hear them.
A sharp knock shook Booth out of his reverie. He strode to the door and opened it to find his Bones standing there. "Hey Bones." Booth said as he enveloped her in a hug.
"Come on in. Do you wan anything to drink?"
"I'm fine actually. So what was it that you wanted to talk about?"
That was his Bones, always blunt and to the point. He motioned her to follow him to the couch. He sat and she sat next to him. Their bodies melded together as one.
"Well, Temperance. We've known each other for six years and in that time I managed to fall in love with you. And after dating for a year. I've come to conclusion. Most of your stuff has a permanent place in my house, we spend most nights of the week here, it only makes sense for me to say this. Let's move in together." Booth held out a small gold key to her.
Smiling she accepted the key and pulled him in for a kiss. Their lips met and the spark they felt the first time ignited. Puling away she looked into his chocolate brown eyes and said "Yes."

A year later Booth was back to pacing. He had one more question for his Bones. This time he really had no idea how to ask her. Her key turned in the lock and he slipped the box back into this pocket. He didn't ask her that night or the next two nights.
Saturday morning found the couple sleeping in. Booth awoke to the sight of his beautiful girlfriend fast asleep, the sun's rays framing her like a golden halo. He got out of the bed, grabbed the little box and slipped it into her hands.
Smiling softly to himself, he moved into the kitchen to cook breakfast. He had a feeling she'd be hungry when she woke up.
Twenty minutes later, as he was setting the table, he heard a small gasp from the bedroom. In a matter of seconds she was standing in front of him. Their eyes locked and he knew what she was going to say. She held out the box to him. He took it and placed the engagement ring on his fiancée. The moment was too full of emotion for words, except for one small word. She looked up and said "Yes."
