Title: faded supernova

Summary: Sirius sits in his faded crimson dorm room and he thinks of the days when he wasn't so hauntingly broken / Sirius, James and wondering when their stars went out / Freeverse

Prompts: Big Sis/Lil Sis Competition, Round Three, prompt: red.

Notes: So, this is the second part of my round three entry for this competition – it is based off Cassidy's (our dancing days) one shot "faded hearts", and links in with my oneshot "vivid hearts". I have really enjoyed this pairing, and I hope you do too.

"Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways," – Oscar Wilde

do you remember those days, sweetie?

those days where your soul sung bright, bright scarlet

and you soared through the cerulean sky, the aureolin sun

glinting off your golden wings

do you remember those days, sweetie?

before you became so hauntingly broken

before you fell from grace and from your seat amongst the gods

before your world was tainted with faded jade

who are you now?

.

now you sit in faded, white-washed rooms

(that used to shine in crimson splendour)

and you smoke harlequin cigarettes and inhale lavender smoke

and you watch the ashes fall like the wings

of the gods you once were.

now, you're nothing but grey marionettes,

you're puppets with the strings snapped

and you're just the ghosts of the boys you used to be,

whatever happened to that glorious smile, sweetie?

.

can you remember what it was like to see the stars?

now the night is blacker than your heart

and the sky as empty as the boy you think you love.

once you could see galaxies of vivid silver

but now all you can see is the grey despair of tomorrow

do you remember you once sat up there?

now you live a life of faded azure

and you sit in your white-washed room

and you contemplate your broken life.

sirius, sweetie, can you remember,

what was it like to be whole?
