Doflamingo's cackles still echoed in the empty desolation left from Ace's passing, but no eyes found him. They were focused on a ship in order to escape or to pursue, or they were focused on Blackbeard pirates. The huge body of the man was not nearly as daunting as the ecstasy that burned in his eyes, as he viewed the devastation and Whitebeard's bloody form.
"Your time is finally over, Whitebeard!" his grin flashed and Whitebeard looked on with loathing.
He is the reason for all of this…all of the pain that's been endured…all of the destruction….Ace's….death. The old man's eyes sparked and he buried the blunt end of his weapon, striking it into the ground in his seething rage. "Blackbeard…" his voice was deathly cold.
"Luffy!" Jimbei jostled the boy as he ran, but the youth didn't respond. Ivanokov caught up with him and peered at Luffy's unconscious body, grimacing and closing his eyes for a moment.
Opening them he looked towards their escape. "It's too much for a person, let alone a boy, to go through so much pain in such a short amount of time." He muttered, allowing Jimbei to hear his thoughts.
Jimbei frowned. The wound given by Ace's death was still fresh and his chest ached with the stabbing pain of his loss and the eminent loss of Whitebeard to come. Jimbei looked sharply at Ivanokov and the man looked back at him. His eyes widened upon seeing the fishman's expression.
"No. You can't. He's…" Ivanokov began quietly, but Jimbei shoved Luffy into his arms and skidded to a halt. He sprinted in Whitebeard's direction.
"No! JIMBEI!" Ivanokov roared, but he didn't stop. Time was precious…their escape would cost Whitebeard's life…and now…possibly Jimbei's. "Damn him!" he whispered and secured his grip on the boy's body and he hissed in frustration.
Luffy was limp and unconscious, caught within a nightmare that would pursue him in his waking.
