For English, we got a writing prompt. It was:
Imagine that scientist have invented a window that allows you to see whatever you choose on the other side of the glass. From a yard full of toys to a beautiful mountain lake, the choice is yours. If you had such a window in your room, what would you see when you looked out your window each morning?
I choose Camp Half-Blood for the place I would see out my window. (PS You are able to go through the window to that place.)
I wake up to the sound of swords clanging together and yells coming from their owners. I jump out of bed quickly; I am late for training. I throw on some of my armor that I have hidden in my closet and crawl out my special window. I pause once my feet hit the ground.
I take in the smell of the ocean breeze drifting from Poseidon's cabin. I see Percy still in bed. Good, I'm not the only one late. I hear strategic planning coming from Athena's cabin. They are getting plans ready for the next Capture-the-Flag game.
I see satyrs and Mr. D's kids picking grapes and strawberries from the fields. Centaurs gallop by. Naiads peel from their trees. In the building behind me, I hear metal hitting metal and realized that shields and weapons are being made.
Somebody presses a sword between my shoulder blades. I jump and turn with a start. It's Percy Jackson, the hero of Camp Half-Blood. Since when did he get out of bed? I thought.
"Percy!" I yell. "Don't scare me like that!"
"You have to be ready for anything," he tells me with a smile, "and everything."
Another sword that got knocked out of somebody's hand clattered towards me. I swiftly picked it up and held it close to his neck while saying, "Yep. That's so true." He had a shocked expression on his face.
He lunges toward me. I sidestep and duck. I try to hit his ankles and make him fall, but he jumps. We go like that for a few minutes, him going for a hit and I block. Then I try to get him, but he dodges. People gather around us, either yelling Percy's name or my own. It was the new girl versus the hero.
I trip and fall. Percy puts his foot on my stomach, holding me down. His sword tip is at my neck. He smiles triumphantly as he said, "I win."
The crowd erupts into cheers as he helps me up. Even though I lost, I was happy. Camp Half-Blood was perfect. It meant protection. It meant home.
