It was the night of the full moon.
Run, run, run. I urged my numb feet forward, pursuing the little light that remained at the end of the dank corridor. Hurried footsteps ricocheted off the never-ending stone pavement. I was chased by the ghost of ghosts, the nightmare of nightmares. Its presence ate away at the courage that once filled my heart. My fear, and nothing else, kept it alive.
With all of my diminishing strength, I quickened my footfall towards the gloomy light. I had to rest. Relief flooded my heart as I reached the torch, only to be replaced by panic. I was trapped, cornered, an unsuspecting fly in a spider's web. The Darkness personified loomed ominously over me, its argent blue eyes narrowed with maniacal laughter.
I awoke, drenched in cold sweat, with a single name on my lips.
Darkrai.

About the story: According to Wikipedia, Darkrai's name is a portmanteau of the English word dark and the Japanese word for dark (暗い, kurai). The title, Phantasm, means nightmare.
