Sandbox and Cooties
"Hello, may I play with you?" asked a cute girl with blonde hair and blue eyes.
"No. I don't play with girls. They have cooties." Replied the boy simply. He had dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.
"I don't have cooties," the girl said a bit offended. She started playing in the sand near the boy.
"How do I know?" the boy asked looking perplexed. He stared at the girl beside him building a sand castle.
"I don't know. Do you want to play with me?" the girl asked getting impatient. She continued playing in the sand. Her concentration solely focused on that. She was totally oblivious to the other kids around her.
"Alright, I will. My name's Oliver." The boy said and smiled at the girl. She really was pretty.
The girl looked up for a split second and said, "My name's Lily. My mommy and daddy named me Lillian, but I don't like it much."
"I like Lilly better too," the boy said.
"Come on let's try and make the biggest sand castle," the girl said excitedly.
They worked together building the sand castle and talking.
"So when is your birthday?" Oliver asked continuing the conversation.
"June 4th and yours?" Lilly asked.
"October 1st." Oliver replied. "Do you know where babies come from?"
"Well my mommy said that the stork dropped me by her door." Lily said. "I want to have many babies when I'm married."
"Me too, maybe when we are older we can get married."
"Yeah…that would be great." She then decided to play a prank on him. She grabbed a handful of sand and threw it on him.
"What did you do that for?" Oliver asked playfully. He picked up a handful and threw it back at her.
She then tripped over him. Both were lying in an awkward position…not that they knew about it.
"Do you think girls still have cooties?" Lily asked.
"Of course not. You're my special friend now." Oliver said and smiled.
"Have you ever been kissed?"
"No, have you?
"No.." Lily said.
When it was nearing sunset, they were done. The sand castle was quite amazing. The park was getting more empty.
"Will I see you again tomorrow?" Oliver asked hopeful.
"Yeah most probably…" Lily said and smiled at him.
"Lillian! It's getting dark, we have to go home now!" yelled Lily's mom.
Lilly scrunched up her face. "I have to go. Bye." She said. She then leaned down and gave a quick peck on the cheek to her new friend, smiled at him and ran to her mother.
Oliver grinned. He'd just had his first kiss. He surely didn't think girls had cooties anymore. He hoped that they would always be friends and then one day get married and have trillions of babies.
The days wore on, and he continued meeting her every day by the sandbox. Who knew that his wish would become reality? Because years later they had become best friends and then got married. Although they didn't have trillion kids they did give birth to one: a baby girl named Lilian Oliver Oken.
(A.N.:I know it's impossible to have trillions, but these are 6 year olds so bare with me.)
