the silent order

His smile is white - blindingly so - when he parts these instructions to them. When I'm gone - (and he will be; they are not blinded by their faith, but rather find reality more clear cut than before) - you all must protect Rei.

Yukihina's mouth twitches in annoyance but he acquiesces, glancing over his comrades. Kouji slides his tongue over the ridges of his front teeth - deep in thought - and growls out a 'fine'. Rui is apathetic to the boy and says 'all right,' (and Yukihina thinks she might be pleased because she's never actually hated him, not like them at least.)

She leaves after that, and it is just him, Yukihina and Kouji that are left standing in the empty apartment - feeling a bit empty and a bit cold now. His white hair catches the light from the window, letting it alter the shadow his young body casts over the carpet.

Protect Rei. He pauses, looks at the duo meaningfully. Before he can continue, Kouji interrupts with a click of his tongue, 'yeah, yeah. Of course.' Yukihina gives a reassuring nod.

They both leave, sensing his need for solitude at the moment, and walk the darkening streets of the city side-by-side, passing by arcades with loud teenagers and less savoury alleyways and darkened, thug-riddled parks.

The shadows curl and slide over the surroundings and over them, caressing their faces and playing with the corners of their lips until Kouji decides to slip his tongue in Yukihina's mouth so he can taste her. In the dark alleyway that Yukihina presses Kouji against, he isn't surprised to see her appear around the corner, a cowboy hat hung around her neck.

Kouji pulls away, a grin on his face, 'and out she comes - the stunning lead singer, Rui!'

Rui goes red in an instant, but her steps towards them never falter. Yukihina leaves a mark on the other man's collarbone before pulling her against him, nuzzling her neck.

'Y-Yuki,' she stammers, but her hands find their familiar place around each of ther necks. 'Shouldn't you guys be protecting him right now?'

Yukihina feels playful today, licking up her neck languidly as Kouji warms her ear with hot breaths.

'We're your most devoted fans, aren't we, Yuki-chan?'

'Yes,' hums the other, 'and we can't miss you, not once, right, Rui?'

Rui kisses Yuki shut, her arms around his shoulder as she forces him against the brick wall. Kouji comes up from behind, taking off her cowboy hat and tossing it to the ground before pressing his chest against her back.

'Shouldn't you be protecting little Rei-chan?' teases Kouji in her other ear and sees her red, swollen lips leave Yukihina's.

'Oh,' she breathes, eyes clearing from her lust, 'right.' She pauses before swallowing in nervousness, 'will you consider joining me?'

Yukihina's chuckle is low and makes her stomach bloom with heat, 'we're already busy protecting something else.' Rui furrows her brow in confusion.

'Really?'

'Yep,' says Kouji quite seriously, and she has half a mind to ask what? but he has one hand on her hip and the other up her shirt and, dear lord, Yukihina's doing things with his tongue that should be outlawed -

Protect Rei.

But it is what is left unsaid echoes in their heads the loudest: and protect Rui.
