Eli was shocked. He had just received an ominous text to meet someone behind The Dot tonight at 3am. The scariest part… it was from Julia. He got out of the hearse and went into his room. The necklace was smooth as Eli nervously fingered it. Should I tell Clare?, he thought, No, she would worry too much. I'll just keep quiet till I figure out what's going on. It's probably Fitzy Boy playing a trick on me.
Eli's watch read 2:48am. He had decided not to go to meet up with whoever sent him the strange text. Julia's… gone, It hurt to think the words, even after so long. He didn't believe in an afterlife anyway. His phone buzzed again at exactly three o'clock am. "Wuts the matter? Ur comin arent u?" another text sent from Julia's phone.
"Just tell me who u really r" Eli texted back.
"It's really me, Eli. I'm Julia." For once, Eli was scared. Then he got another text from her. "Fine. If u wont come 2 me, I'll come 2 u."
The sound of footsteps was growing closer. Eli tried to go to sleep, but he wasn't the least bit tired. He laid in his cluttered bed staring at the picture of Julia on his nightstand. Then he saw her - the real Julia. She was standing next to a pile of useless junk, staring straight into Eli's emerald green eyes. Eli's mouth hung open, he tried to speak, but could make no sound.
Julia didn't look quite right though. She looked the same as she had on that horrible day in April last year, but something was different. She almost seemed transparent. She moved closer to Eli's bed, her movements inhumanly fluid. It was like she was made of water. Her dark, chocolate brown eyes seemed distant.
Finally Eli managed to speak, "J-Julia, you're not dead."
"No. I am. I'm a spirit, Eli." Her voice was soft and eerie.
He just stared at her in complete awe. So many thoughts were racing through his head he thought it would explode. This has to be a dream. There's no such thing as ghosts! Julia vanished. Eli looked at his watch. It was 4:00am. How could so much time have passed? He decided to go to sleep then.
