(High School AU, Best friends)

"I can't believe they're actually forcing us to dance!" Dean yelled, making Castiel pull away slightly from his phone on the other end.

"Well, they can do whatever they like, Dean." Castiel sighed and slumped in his chair, "At least people want to dance with you, I have to dance the female part for the performance."

"Yikes, I'm sorry, Cas." Dean made a face.

"I'm just afraid I'm going to mess up and trip over my own feet, or worse Balthy's feet."

"Well, why don't you ask Mr. Shurly for help?" Dean suggested.
"I tried, he said he was busy every night until the performance. Not that I'd want to spend my time trying to learn how to dance with him. I know all the steps I just can't do them." Castiel frowned into the phone.

"Well… I could help you, I know the steps, I can lead you. We could start this evening if you like."

"Oh, Dean, you don't have to, I'm sure I can learn on my own…" Castiel said, trailing off.

"C'mon Cas, practice make perfect and it's no problem. But if you don't want to, I get that."

"Are you sure you want to do this? If you've got football practice then you don't have to take time out of your schedule to deal with my awful dancing." Castiel persisted.

"Of course I'm sure, are you busy now, I could drop by and help."

"I'm with Zachariah at the church, he's doing some work and I'm sitting talking to you so if you want you can come here, there's no one else around."

"Okay, I'll be there in 5."

Dean walked up to the church, hesitating before walking in. He moved to where Castiel was waiting and offered his hand, smiling, "May I have this dance."

Castiel smiled and stood as he took Dean's hand, "You may."

They walked outside to the church parking lot where Dean had set up a pair of portable speakers and his ipod. He pressed a button as they walked by, filling the lot with Frank Sinatra's Come Fly With Me. Dean pulled Castiel in, placing his hand on the other boy's waist and taking his hand, making him blush. They began to dance, Dean leading Castiel around the parking lot, barely noticing when Castiel made a mistake or tripped.

"What were you talking about, Cas? You've got this down."

"That's only because you're dancing with me." Castiel stopped himself, "I-I mean, you're really good at leading."

Dean blushed and dipped Castiel low to the ground, "Nah, we just have…. chemistry." He emphasized the word chemistry, flashing Castiel a smile.

"Dean…" Castiel whispered, embarrassed but pulling Dean in a little closer. We're best friends, it's okay to dance with your best friend and talk about having chemistry, Castiel told himself, trying his best to ignore the fluttery feeling he got when Dean smiled at him.

The music ended and began again, the two boys barely registering the change and continuing to dance in perfect unison. Dean found it impossible to tear his gaze from Castiel's bright blue eyes as he held the other boy to his chest. Castiel was so close could feel Dean's heartbeat as they moved and it made him dizzy. Finally, they finished the dance once again, face to face, close enough to feel each other's breath.

"See? Chemistry." Dean mumbled and closed the distance, pressing their lips together softly.

Castiel gasped in surprise before wrapping his arms up and around Dean's neck, pulling back momentarily from the kiss, "Yes, chemistry."
