Aran was in love. That was all there was to it- though he couldn't understand why.
Why couldn't it have been Mercedes? He had spent many precious time trying to gain favor and attention from the elven lady but his work was futile; even if Freud was in some way 'Phantom's' she would continue to dote on Freud.. just as he did to her.
It had been so quick when something in him awoke as he fought the monsters, only pairing up with Luminous due to Freud's plan during an attempt to reclaim a small village. Though it was small it was important to save as much lives as possible in hopes that they too, would grow to rise against the Black Mage- just as the other four heroes have tried to do.
The skeletal monsters shrieked and creaked, dragons belched and groaned- all from a mighty swing of his pole arm, Maha. His spiritual weapon and partner laughed with pleasure though the bloody battle while Luminous spun his staff and summoned a brilliant band of light- how mages did it Aran did not know, it did bother him some deal but studying was Freud's and Luminous' thing- not his.
Soon the swarm of monsters became a wreck of damage- an unusual, sympathetic defeat. The warrior felt pride rush through him despite the ache wounds that covered his body. "Another victory won, another village saved!" He announced, unable to keep his voice any lower.
"Not quite yet, there is more to worry about." Luminous said- voice stern and serious. Aran snapped his gaze on the magician with confusion and impatience; he could not help but to think that Luminous was quite plain and not quite 'friendly' but saying he was hostile… it didn't quite seem right.
"What do you mean by that? The battle is finished, done, ended. We just report back to Freud and go after the Southeast part of Maple World." Aran argued, but the mage said nothing and summoned a cross- recovering Aran's damage as well as his own and walked further north where the monsters had come from.
"We were supposed to save the village…" Luminous stated calmly while staring ahead without interest.
"We just saved the village." Aran huffed indignantly
"Then find the source." Blue eyes fixed upon the warrior with clarity- something stopped in Aran's heart. Luminous was right, he could recall something the dragon master said about a source but completely forgotten it.
"Right when I thought I could polish Maha for once…" The warrior muttered while holding his pole arm with a sturdy hand.
"We must deplore into the depths for now." And with that, both warrior and mage went on.
