Want this Moment to Last
Naruto x Sakura
Sakura was laying in her bed trying to go to sleep. It was going to be a busy day tomorrow and she needed her rest.
"I can't sleep." She said. Getting up and fixing herself some tea.
"Sakura?" Called a voice throgh the door.
"Naruto?" Sakura opened the door to find him standing right outside her door. "What are you doing here?" She asks.
"Oh! I couldn't sleep at my place so I went out to eat ramen and then I walked till I came here." He said. Sitting on the couch Sakura could tell something else was up with him.
"Naruto. Are you having nightmares again?" After the fourth war Naruto has been having terrible nightmares about it. Everyone dying. Including herself and Sasuke.
Naruto didn't say anything.
"Here. I can't sleep either. I have some tea." She offered some to him and he took a few sips.
"Sakura. Do you think...I'm right for this?" Naruto asked.
"Becoming Hokage? Yes. you said you would. And you are going to be." Sakura said smiling.
"I know but..."
"No buts!" She said.
"You worked your whole life for this! You fought in a war to save all of us. When we were fighting to protect you. You never gave up on Sasuke. Naruto. You saved all of us." Sakura felt like crying.
"It's just. Maybe if I never...was born...maybe the war wouldn't have happened. The nine tails would die with me." He really was down.
"Naruto. Lay down. you can sleep here tonight." Sakura was going to get up but Naruto stopped her.
"Stay with me?" he asked.
Sakura normally would punch him but...
"Sure. Use my lap as a pillow." She said. Naruto lay his head in her lap and closed his eyes.
"Your arms are my castle, your heart is my sky,
they wipe away the tears that I cry.
All the good and the bad times, we remember it all. you make me rise when I fall."
Sakura softly sang to him.
Naruto smiled in his sleep.
"Goodnight Naruto." She kissed his cheek and fell asleep too.
Naruto awoke early next morn.
He felt much better then he ever has been.
Getting up he fixed more tea for Sakura before leaving.
As he walked out the door, he created a clone to put a blanket on the sleeping beauty on the couch.
"Thanks so much, Sakura." He whispered.
As he walked down the road he began to hum to himself.
"I still hear your voice when you sleep next to me.
I still feel your touch in my dreams.
Forgive me my weakness but I don't know why, it's hard to survive."
He hummed till he got to the office.
"Naruto. Are you ready to become Hokage?" Kakashi asked him.
With a smile Naruto nodded.
